Depo Projector Wiring Harness?
Depo Projector Wiring Harness?
So I bought some Depo Projectors for my 06 Lancer. From everything I've read they are all plug and play. Mine came with an extra relay harness to route directly from the battery. I don't have HID's or will I at this point. Just using H7 bulbs for the depo highs and lows. Now the connectors on the back of the headlights look plug and play to me. Do I need the relay harness for these to work? Anybody with depo headlights have any input? I searched the forum and did not find any relevant threads that addresses this.
Got any pics? I have the 02-03 depo head lights and mine were plug and play. The only reason I would think you would need that extra connector is if the main headlights are actually hids and not halogen.
That's what I was thinking. It's a completely separate harness to route power directly from the battery (relay). Seems like it'd be used only if you were running an HID kit with the projectors. Just trying to get feedback from any who have used depo projectors.
I have the depo projectors WITH the HID kit and it was still plug and play. THere was one main plug to connect to the car harness. The external ballasts were connected and just needed to be mounted.
It's definitely a relay harness. Well oh well, Guess I just have an extra relay harness in case I ever need it. I decided against HID's for now. I bought two sets of OSRAM Ralleye H7's. 65watt and 2100 lumens per bulb. And damn taking the bumper off. First car I've ever owned that required that to change out headlight housings.

The "extra" relay that goes from the battery is for hids and it's only on later model Lancer's, that's why those with 02-03 Lancers didn't have it.
The harness is used to put a anti flicker relay inline that is needed with the late model Lancers with day time running lights.
Without the anti flicker relay, the hids don't get enough voltage and flicker because of this.
So you will need one if you upgrade to hids, but not until then.

Yeah it's a extra harness for HID's. I love the lights however, the left side had a cracked socket for the W5W light where the stripes are (top of the assembly). That allowed moisture in and the inside of the clear plastic lens causing small stress cracking all over the place. Looks like *** and pissed me off but the ebay seller is sending a replacement for free. Other side that's properly sealed looks good so far. Guess it's the sub-par quality plastics DEPO uses.
Yes... When I get a chance to take pics. The properly sealed headlight is flawless. However, the other side where moisture got in is horribly fracture cracked. I mean horribly. I have a new set though I just need to re-install. Don't let moisture get inside depo assemblies. The outcome is horrendous.
the 3 stripes at the top of the assembly are able to be lit. It has a socket for a 194 bulb. So you could just get a nice high powered led 194 bulb from v-leds or somewhere. That would be easier and still look good. I recommend the depo lights. Like I said just make sure no moisture gets inside.
