Need Opinions Please!!!!!!

alright, heres the deal. As some of you know i'm having a custom bodykit put on to my car. Well i've run into a small problem. You see the new rear bumper is about to go on, but the exhaust lip dosent line up with the muffler tip on the lancer. Now this wouldnt be a problem if i still have a stock exhaust, but thats not the case. I have the Greddy Evo catback. So i have a few options.

#1 I could cut the muffler and have it moved to where it fits in the lip

#2 drop the Greddy off the car, sell it and put a custom cat back with 2 1/2 inch pipe

alot of people here are telling me just to cut the muffer off and re-hang it, but i'm afraid of losing the value and power that this exhaust offers. Now i've had this exhaust for about 2 months so its still pretty new and i really dont wanna get rid of it.

Any opinons?????????

well if u don't wanna get rid of it, don't.

however it is only 2 months old so its still sort of new and im sure u could easily get enough money to pay for a custom exhaust...

ur not gonna lose much wheel h.p. by just cutting and moving the muffler. im sure it will still be very similar to the real thing as long as the shop knows what they are doing.

if its a custom body-kit, how come you couldn't get the muffler to line up with the lip at the design point? or is it like a different body kit being molded to fit ur car?

i'd say just cut it and move it to fit...its not a cheap exhaust to begin with, so unless u can get a lot of money for it ot pay for a custom one, get it moved to fit.

I'd do the custom exhaust myself. Guaranteed fitment. That's just me. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

if you are spending that kinda of money on those types of mods, do it right and customize the exhaust to fit the car.

i would start by contacting GReddy. they might by able to send you a new replacement pipe that might relocate the angle or direction of the muffler without any losses. or see what they say about removing a few inches out of what is already there.

GReddy's customer service ain't the best from my experience. I doubt they'll help unless money's involved. (Meaning money that'd prolly buy 2 custom cat-backs.)

well if he is getting a custom body kit then probably getting a custom exhaust is the best option.

but if you do not ask, you have taken no for an answer already...

custom exhaust, from what i have seen they can be just as good and cheaper than anything you will buy from larger companies

I've decided just to cut the muffler. From what my tech sees, all i'm gonna need to do is cut the bend that already exists over the rear axle and that should straighten it out enough to fit in the lip. While its up in the air i'm probably gonna have them put a high flow cat on the car also. I want to thank you all for your opinions, they have really helped.

you'll probably be alright.......as long as you get a qualified person to do it, it would not take it to bubba's house of welding..
