At the dealer now, with a $135 bill in hand, due to a faulty EGR solenoid.... And, of coursethe extended warranty costing quite a few hundred dollars did not cover it.... I'm never buying a warranty again.... even if it had covered it there was a $100 deductible.... what a joke.... Thanks guys, James
By the way, Auto Zone said they cannot read codes as per California law... Napa said they cannot either....

 

So, to update everyone, the dealer found out it was not the EGR valve, but the ECU... The EGR circuitry had become faulty. They told me they would replace it for free, because they are warrantied for 8 years/80,000 miles. So, it's on order, and I should get it within ten days. They unhooked the EGR solenoid, so the ECU wouldn't trick itself into reading it's false, faulty readings, so now it idles again..... Hopefully everything will work out...!! James
