HID issues/questions
Hey everyone,
I have a couple of questions regarding my HIDs. I got my car about 4yrs ago, 2008 GTS model. I had the option to get the HID's installed from the dealership when I got the car, and I did.
Recently, my left HID is flickering and going out. I have to turn off my lights, then back on again for it to work. But then it shorts out again. I'm not too worried about this because I want to install some new projector headlights fairly soon with new HID's.
Now my question pertains to the dealership install. I've read many times that you need a DRL bypass to stop the lights from flickering, I believe they did this. I've installed HID's on my girlfriends Mazda but I've never seen this setup before.
Is this a conversion kit or something? I really don't know what this is, doesnt look like a normal ballast to me. And do I need this for my new light setup? Or is there an easier way to hook up HID's to a my Lancer?

And this is connected to it...

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

sounds like they put a cheap 10 dollar HID kit in for you. I've never seen one like that before.
Yes you will need to get a kit that sells the kit with a DRL bypass harness. I had the same problem with the first kit I bought. It was only 30 bucks....thought I was getting a good deal. They're not too hard to install. It's the same way just an extra harness you need to set in there. I forgot where I got mine, but look online and it'll be around 100 bucks for the whole kit. i recommend paying more because you'll get what you pay for. A lot of the sites will have something specific to your car.
