2012 A/C Unit Installation
2012 A/C Unit Installation
I have a 2012 Lancer DE model and it doesnt have A/C, i woud like to get one for it but cant find sites that sell the whole unit, does anyone know all the parts i would need to get to make a complete unit?
You will need a lot of stuff. Your best bet would be to get parts from the wreckers. You most likely need a new HVAC control unit. Need all the pipes/pressure sensors from the evaporator to the condenser and from the compressor. You will need a new serpentine belt, and possible some ECU reprogramming to tell the fan to turn on at the proper times. You might have to run new wiring too, as it may not be present. I would not recommend you undertake this job
Sounds like a big big big job. I am a mechanic, and I would not want to undertake this. Time to sell the car and buy one with A/C.

My friend installed his A/C on his DE on his own. Granted, I'm pretty sure he needed:
HVAC lines
Condensor
Evaporator assembly
compressor
relays
A/C controls (the ones with the actual A/C button to turn it on)
As for the ECU, I recall that the only thing he needed to do was install the relays, and the control with the switch.
He bought it all off ebay , off an 08' wrecked ES sport, which was totaled from the back, so everything in total cost him about $1,500 and 3 days of downtime (we had to remove the front bumper, the dash was the worst!
Like CamShaft said, better off buying an ES with the A/c standard. The only reason I see someone undertake it on their own, is if they want the experience of DIY, can't afford to buy another car with it, or its really hot and can't stand it! lol
