electric trouble!

hey guys, havin' a bit of a problem... my dash lights are out, and i checked the fuses, which seem to be intact... may be a wiring problem, so i'm interested in seeing some kind of a wiring diagram so that i know how to go about testing the wires... but i don't know of any such diagram? does anyone have a lancer electric service manual, or something else that would give me a push in the right direction?

thanks...

how did it happen? I mean, did it go off after you installed something? Did you check the dimmer? is it just your dash, or both the dash and the heater/ fan controls??

sweet, thanks for the link.

as for installs; nothing. it was completely random. dash light and AC lights are out (excluding the 3 lights UNDERNEATH the AC knobs - for defrost/AC/circulate, which are on), and cigarette lighter light is out, although cigarette lighter itself works. tail lights are up and running.

if your dome and trunk light are out as well then it is DEFINITELY a fuse. So double check that. The fuse was really hard to find and I couldn't see that it was blown. It was one of the two fuses in the yellow carrier inside the fuse box inside the engine compartment.

Good luck otherwise though!

thanks man. the dome and trunk light actually ARE on... but i'll check the fuses in the engine compartment, anyway. the ones i checked (that corresponded to the guage lights in the owner's manual) were the ones behind the driver's side cubby hole inside the car.

im experiencing similiar problems.....
I just installed my new headunit today and as I was just finishing up and getting ready to leave for work I turn the headlights on and my dash stays dark.

The speedometer does light up but the lights in my ashtray, the ring light around the cigarette lighter, and the lights in the 3 gauges circles by my climate controls dont light up.

Unfortunately I have white face gauges on my speedometer and the power wire for them is spliced into the dimmer switch that controls the A/C lights....so now my white gauges dont light either.

And I'm hoping that this is an odd coincidence but I noticed directly after that my right rear taillight is out.

I havent had the chance to check all the fuses yet or check the bulbs in the taillight, but does anyone know if the A/C lights and the ashtray light are on their own small fuse? And would they even be affected by a headunit? Also is there any connection with the taillights either?

Im really hoping its just a simple fuse that my taillight burned out...and not that I fried something.
