dead battery from storing
hey all,
so i stored the car in the middle of november (2003), followed pretty much every single precautions and steps to take b4 storage. luckily it was in the garage all this time, so far about 3.5 months, so it was that cold, but it did go i'm sure to atleast -15o celcius....the heater didn't work properly.
so since spring is almost here, i decided to start it up, just to start lubing the inside of the engine to prepare to take out the car in a few weeks when all the ice have melted, salt all gone...
however, i noticed that my battery is dead. before i stored, i was told of 2 methods, 1st method was to run the engine atleast once a week to keep it lubed, and the other was to not turn the engine on at all. i had a full tank of gas, 1 month old synthetic oil filled in. everything idid ok, just that i forgot the disconnect the fricken battery and now its dead, or perhaps just discharged.
i know this because my alarm light dont blink anymore, my remote door looks dont work and my engine wont turn on, no lights turn one when i open the door, this me ans, the lights on the ceiling and lights on the dash, so i know the battery is dead, or discharged.
how can i get this corrected? i'm thinking of tricke charging the battery very slowly, perhaps at like 2volts, for like 8-12 hours, instead of the dangerous quick charge.
are there any precautionary measures to take before i do anything? should i jsut remove the battery and get a new one? or should i just charge it up? or boost it from another car?
i'm concerned that i might **** up the electronics.
all in all, what i will find cumbersome is reprogramming the damn alarm sysstem....

Just hook up a battery charger and hope it works. The only special precaution I'd take would be to disconnect the battery before hooking up the charger. If you're really unlucky the battery might have frozen in the discharged state. If so, the case could have cracked and acid leaked onto the car. Unlikely though.
