Question P0017 Code Thown...

[FONT=&quot] I have a 2011 Lancer ES, and it is throwing this code:
P0017 - Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation (Bank 1 Sensor B)

I reset it and it came back the following test drive. I hear no noises from the engine and the car still runs great.

I have 77,000 miles on it so if I take it in to dealer I will be charged for them to diagnose it.

Has anyone else experienced this code/issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Why would you be charged for diagnosis? It is still under powertrain warranty!

But here's the diagnostic tree if you have the tools to do it yourself.

I even called Mitsubishi Motors of North America, and they said they could charge me for the diagnosis if it turns out to be one of the sensors that is bad. However, they said that if it was something else like timing chain, camshaft, etc, I wouldn't be responsible for diag.

I found this in the alldata that I have but I don't have an Oscilloscope to check the sensor itself.

This is my 3rd mitsubishi I have owned, but it's going to be my last.

Thanks for the post, I think I am going to swap the camshaft sensors and see if the code changes to P0016 then I'll know it's the sensor and not something else.

Thanks for the reply.

same isssue with hard code P0017, soft code P0016

All

I am having this issue as well. I just had my Tomei 280 cams, with valve springs and retainers. I had a new timing chain, and tensioner installed thinking it was the problem. NOPE! the hard code P0017 keeps coming back. I believe that is the exhaust side. I have a new sensor coming tomorrow hoping its the problem. What else could this be????? HELP!!!! Car runs perfect with the engine light off and on. no performance issues.

Doesn't matter, the light came back on..... was using carb clean. I may take it back out and clean again just to be sure before replacing the Oil Control Valve.
