Cvt transmission questions
I HAVE 2012 MITSUBISHI LANCER,
ITS AN AUTOMATIC (CVT), IT HAS 55K MILES, IF I SHOW THE TRANSMISSION HAS NOT YET BEEN SERVICED, IS IT TIME TOO.
PLUS I WAS TOLD ALL CVT'S HAVE A WHINE, IS THAT NORMAL.
NOW WHEN I SAY WHINE, IT IS VERY SOFT AND YOU CAN ONLY HERE AROUND 3K RPM MARK.
ANYONE GOT INSIGHTS OR IDEAS FOR ME.

I work on a transmission shop, and CVT
transmissions are crap !! The noise at that
Rpm's is normal due to the chain inside that is getting
Alittle play bcuz of its use.
it's gonna
Get more bad later when the chain broke inside.
Then bye bye Felicia

I also worked on a CVT trans but I don't think that it are crap...
It are more simple than the traditional automatic gearbox because of its chain belt.
But it really needs maintenance with the correct oil, better if it is CVT J4 MITSUBISHI or some high specific compatible oil.
On maintenances observed here, the oil starts to loose properties the CVT J4 seems to start to burn at intervals of 30k miles, and the others CVT oil at 20k miles.
So I suggest you to do the service but don't expect the sound to go, it is normal by the age, but if you do regular services it will lasts much as the engine
