Grinding noise during start up
Hi all,
When starting up my car there is a grinding noise, the starter has been replaced, but still there is the grinding noise.
When driving the car drive perfectly, no noise when driving or idle.
Anybody have an idea and when i checked this on the web I read about the flex plate could be damaged.
My car is an automatic cvt DE 2009.
Thank you in advance

Hello friend,
Can you remove your starter? So you can inspect the teeth of the plate, if you see damaged or bended teeths there is the problem, also see if the movement is linear, if the movement of the plate is waved or so, it is the problem

Hi SnowGT,
I will take the starter out and check it.
Just a question, do you know if the Mitsubishi lancer starter have some sort of plate/ gasket that fit over it, before it connect to the flex/drive plate?
Someone told me that the starter might be sitting to tight on the drive plate.
Can this be true

Nope, there is no gasket nor something between the starter and the block, it bolts directly, that reason can be true for other engines but not for this.
Don't forget do a 360 degree inspection of the plate turning by hand the engine
