Some guys have not installed yet either. Got a call the other day from another trying to do it himself. He did not sound like someone who should do the install himself.

I just turned 18,000 miles on my motor, will I have to purchase new valve springs or anything else in order to use this stage 2 cam? I would also like to know if this cam can be used with stock ECU. Over at the 4G forum I belong to they are using the AEM FIC for tuning, noone has tried using a piggy on the GS yet. I have been milling over the idea of picking one up used and giving it a go. I would want to go have it professionally installed tho by either you guys at RRM or over at RRE. An AEM with harness is running a lil over 600.00 and I have seen a cpl piggys here on the boards for around 200.00. I am not sure if you guys would want to use a used unit for this test, but a new unit is still 200.00 cheaper than the AEM. But I would like to try it with a used unit since it has never been done I wouldn't want to spend that much if it didn't work out.
Its been a while since ive put in the stage 2 cam, and i posted already that i had a noise coming from over 4,000prm. Since then i havent drove it, til i had time to take it to a mitsu dealer. They did a valve lash adjustment, the idle noise it now gone, its quiet as far as valve lash, but still if i rev it over 4,000 it has a terrible grinding noise. I told the mechanic at the dealership that it has a aftermarket cam. He thinks that it has to do with the cam itself maybe not being the right profile, as he notes the noise over 4,000rpm sounds like lifters. So i dont know what to do anymore about it, the car drives runs and drives normal up to 3,500 rpm. I've now spent well over a 1,000 including the cam install and valve lash adj, and its been already months that i cant drive the car in high rpms. Cam was installed properly, valve lash was done p[roper as well, and the can runs smooth at low rpms, so i have no idea what to do anymore. Can anyone offer any insight on what it could be, all i wanted was a stage to cam to add more power since i got a lot of mods and now i cant even drive the car properly, im sure you all understand my frustration. Thanks ( I'm not here to bash RRM, or their product, as im sure they do fine work, so i just hope i can get this some help with this so i can feel the effects of the cam and not have to re-install my stock one, everything else i bought from them was great products... )

It prolly has to do with the initial install. There are 10+Stage 2 cams out there and most are installed. No feedback like that from anyone. Like you indicated. You ran the can before adjusting it..... That is bad. Damage prolly done before the lash adjustment....... You never run them up rpm wise before COLD and HOT adjustments are finalized.

True yeah, but right after install i knew it needed adjustment but i was in a situation where i had to drive it home, i always drive slow after installs and break everything in proper, i did however slowly cross 4k, and thats where the noise was. After that i never went that high till after the valve lash was done. I got a question for you Rock. Whats done is done, but maybe you have better knowledge to tell me where im at now? What do you think could be damaged? If a mitsu tech takes it apart, do you think it can be fixed? What i mean is do you think the cam is damaged? maybe if he re-installs it , might need new lifters or something? Any input you can give me until i go see them. I hope it doesnt run too much money, i do got tuning set up for june 8th.. Any input from you is appreciated. Really hope i can get it fixed and going strong again. The car ran amazing before, i easily pull on bolt on Rsx Type-s. Im not puting no blame on you or your product as you already know, mistake was probably on my part, but i would appreciate any input you have as you know these things better then me. Just want to have that Mivec again. Your intake manifold Opened it up so good, i shred through 1st gear with normal driving just if i step on it, dry road no launch. Thanks again. Hope to get it sorted and tuned so i can write a review and hit some 14's.

I cannot judger without seeing it. I don't feel too much blame since a cam is a cam and the profiles have worked all the time. SSRalliart has done successful install. PM him. He will have more time and expertise to help you. If not contact me.
