STI or MR....Which is faster/quicker???

Hey guys, I've started browsing around here again after getting my MR. After I sold my 03' EVO, I have been absent and don't know much of what's been going on and what is being talked about.

Anyway, I've tried looking for any comparison between 04'-05' STI's vs 05' MR and I can't seem to find anything. The last thing I remember is that the quarter mile between 03'-04' EVO's(5spd) vs. STI's were pretty much a drivers race but the STI having a little advantage and that the STI would pull on an EVO in the freeway. Now that we have the MR, is it faster/quicker than the STI or about even? Does the MR's 6spd, 5hp increase, 15lbs torque increase made much of a difference against the STI? Will an MR pull, hang or be even with an STI in the freeway? I have to ask these questions because I'm one of those people who never had the chance to drive both cars before making a decision because of stingy dealerships. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Get rid of that 1st gear rev limiter and you'll be quicker. Drivers race from what I can tell in stock forum but from a roll maybe the MR because it traps a lil higher in the 1320. Damn new 5000 rpm rev limiter in first to save Transfer case abuse.

CarPhoto.net-

Thanks for that article. It was great to read but I was wondering of a results from regular guys maybe comparing it to their friends STI or something. It was also interesting to see from that article that the EVO MR puts 6 more hp than the STI and only 1lb less torque than the STI. Any one else have real world comparison between the two?

MR, I have my doubts on the STI being quicker than the 2005 GSR or RS. I even have my doubts of the STI being quicker than 03 and 04 EVO models. Before somebody foolishly says 300HP>271-276HP, um check the dyno numbers and you may be in for some big surprises, the difference isn't as big as you think, sometimes there is no difference at all.
