I love the R32's. If I didnt have kids I would have bought one instead of the EVO. I drove both at the same dealership back to back and the R32 was soooooooo nice to drive and sounded awesome. The EVO was quicker but not by that much. And the R32 was great to drive. Not to mention the interior is like 500 times nicer and more comfortable than ours. Im gonna get another car in a year or two and it will probably be a R32 with a SC on it.

HAHAHAHA! No doubt!

4/26 & 4/27 at VIR with the Audi Club. I did it last year and had an absolute blast. The five Evos that were there terrorized the Audi guys. VIR is the ballz.

they're def cool lil' cars... seem to be built really good and have a nice exhaust note to boot... def nice to see AWD making a resurgance too... VW's respond to flashes really well, especially the T models, naturally since they're boosted... gonna have to drive one of these one day and would recommend it to anyone that can't handle the hard core edgy-ness of the Evo, and don't care for the STi...

It's a great car. The traction control and ABS are REALLY good. It is a much beter behaved car under threshold braking than the EVO IMO. My salesman at the VW/Porsche/Mitsu dealership is a driving instructor and really wanted me to get the R32 because he is a big VW fan. He had never been out in an EVO. Long story short, we seriously put the two cars through the paces back to back. No contest from a performance standpoint. Plus, the EVo meets my two car seat requirement.

R32 pobably has better safety features, definitely has better fit and finish. It is definitely a viable choice. Because it is N/A, it will make a great autox car.

The Evo's lack of side air bags are a penalty, I wonder how they can integrate them into the Recaro seats the next time around. The base Lancer only has a two star rating for side impact according to the NHTSA, so I'm guess it would be the same for the Evo. I have not seen a test with a SAB equipped LAncer - but considering the car has just as high a frontal crash rating (or better) then the Golf, I'm confident it would be just as good. The Lancer use the RISE chassis that Mitsu codeveloped (sold) to Volvo. So I think a Lancer has just as good but porbably better saftey features then the VW.

I have read more then a few comments about the Lancer's excellent fit and finish. It has scored very high in J.D Powers initial quality surveys and has never been threatened by any VW product in its ranking.

Yeah, the R32 has 6 air bags up front. I'm sure it'll cost high $$$ if needed replaced.
