The Most Overrated and Underrated Cars?
but how long until you crankwalk and are watching pieces of sh*t fly through your firewall that shouldn't be there??? DSM = amazing short term, but they are timebombs in the worst way.
correct me if i'm wrong. Also, if the crankwalk problem wasn't an issue, I'd own a GS-T right now, i like a lot.
Any supra has great potential. Period! it is the most underrated car around. People hate on it...for a reason that I don't know. But I agree with you on all the overrated rides, especially the G35.

Besides, it's only on 2G dsm's. The 6 bolt (shortblock) dsm engine is the same as the evo3 engine in japan, but it barely costs 600 or less to buy used and less to make horsepower out of. It's a direct bolt on to 2g dsm's. BTW, a built 2.3L stroker engine is about 3-4k and capable of 500hp.
I see wayyy more potential for this 4g63 than most nieve people assume.

overrated:
nsx (90k, are you kidding me?)
skyline (2 door evo for 3 times the price in us...if you can get one)
Underrated:
GMC typhoon/syclone
Grand national
DSMs
late 80's/early 90's camaros/stangs (STILL the cheapest 11 second cars to put together, period)

The RSX-S and the Integra Type R are INSANELY underrated. They aren't the best drag cars, but they are great at the track, especially the ITR. The suspension setup is superb. In addition to this, I wish the 3000GT VR-4 and Galant VR-4 were more higly rated, they are both awesome cars.
I also think the Supra is highly overrated. It can get a lot of power but isn't great at putting it to the ground.

i somewhat agree with the original list but you can buy an 93-99 E36 m3 for under 20g easily and then boost it to 700+ HP if you got the money and be one hell of a sleeper
also an overrated car is the lotus elise. sure the handling is awesome but they give you such an underpowered engine for the price of that car. i hear of people swapping in single turbo supra engines already

Pssst...the first year of the E36 M3 in the US was 1995. Do you know how much it costs to get a decent turbo kit for the E36? There are other sleepers you can get for far less (the GVR4 is a good example), there are many ways to skin a cat. Oh yea, the Elise sure is overrated
Edit: I hope you're joking about the cyberbegging, if you aren't, I will do everything I humanly can to get you banned here.

Given the rationales provided by the thread starter, perhaps he should rename this thread to most over/under rated drivers of cars. You're sayin the srt is over rated because the drivers are cocky, I think what you mean, correct me if I'm wrong, is they are overrated by the driver/owner of the car. In which case, this becomes the "cockiest car owner" poll all over again, no?

SRT-4 (I have many, and many reasons)
WRX/Sti (I have yet to be impressed by one of these cars, I see so many claiming 500WHP+, but not backing these claims up at the track)
BMW M3 (I swear the owners and their fans think these cars are unbeatable, sweet car, but stock EVO all around performance owns you and for 1/2 the cost)
So that's my list and reasons, probably forgot some, what does your list look like?

but srt4 what else can you buy for 20K and run 14.0 stock and be verry easily modded.
STIstock sti to stock evo with 2 good drivers the sti should win... and theres a sti in puerterico that dynoed over 500 to the wheels doing low 10's stock drivetrain
BMW m3 depends what year your talking about the newer ones 03 and up will take a stock evo for a walk in the park ALL day long i dont even know you and i can tell your one of the evo owners that thinks evos dont lose to ANYTHING
I'm not going to mention anything that has already been listed so here's off the top of my head.
Over-rated:
Ferrari 360
Underrated:
Ford Focus (especially SVT)
Mitsubishi VR-4 Galant (made in 1992, you know which one I mean...)
Saleen S7 twin turbo
Noble
Ford Escort Cosworth
Shifter Carts

Are you joking about the Cossie? That thing has respect all over Europe. The Noble isn't underrated either. I would agree with you on the Focus, that thing has pretty good handling, it just lacks the power. The VR-4 is the archetypal Q-ship, which is what makes it soooo great when you see someone running 11s in it.
