The Most Overrated and Underrated Cars?
The Most Overrated and Underrated Cars?
I got this idea from the RX-7 forum, but what cars do you guys considered to be the most overrated and the most underrated-
My overrated list consists of-
SRT-4 (I have many, and many reasons)
Integra Type R (the engine is just better suited for a civic hatch or crx)
WRX/Sti (I have yet to be impressed by one of these cars, I see so many claiming 500WHP+, but not backing these claims up at the track)
Pre-Supercharged SVT Cobras (Talk about having a big shadow casted over them)
BMW M3 (I swear the owners and their fans think these cars are unbeatable, sweet car, but stock EVO all around performance owns you and for 1/2 the cost)
Pre 2005 Ford Mustang GT (I have many, and many reasons)
Nissan 350Z (Good Looking Car, but the performance is just ok especially without FI. In a track comparison test by Road and Track, it placed lasted place. Even with FI, they run 12s, all that money to run 12s)
My underrated list consists of-
3000GT VR4/Dodge Stealth RT Turbo (Yes it is very heavy, but why do people continue to ignore it's great handling, braking, and consistent high 13 second 1/4 mile passes stock, not bad for a GT)
Mazda Miata (This chick car really has potential)
Infiniti G35 Coupe and Sedan (Overshadowed by the 350Z, why? It's all around the better car and package)
Subaru Forester XT Turbo (How many people know that this SUV is one of the quickest SUVs on the planet, only the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Mercedes G55 AMG are quicker.
Toyota Supras MK III (Great potential from these cars, just the MK IV Supra really casts a big shadow)
Hyundai Tiburon GT (Very easy to supercharge these cars and run with stock EVOs)
So that's my list and reasons, probably forgot some, what does your list look like?

Overrated:
EVOs - granted it's a awesome car for its time, but too many owners think this car is god's creation...
STIs - for the same reason
1885-86 Corolla GTS - Initial D garbage
Underrated:
DSM - Eclipse/Talon/Laser
best bang for the buck cars, in terms of cheap mods My gsx ran a 13.4@103 with really basic mods
Toyota MR2 Turbo - too expensive to make fast, but it has a GREAT engine
Supra MKIVs - because all evo's claim to be able to beat one... haha

not sure what you mean when you say the G35 is the better package than a Z. They are for completely different things. They have the same engine and chassis but the Z is lighter and faster with sportier suspsension bits all around and lower seating making it a true sports car. The G35 is a sporty coupe with back seats......it's significantly more expensive too so they cater to different people altogether. If you want a performance car, a $26k Z is definitely the better package.....if you want more luxury and back seats for the ankle biters then the G35 is the better package....you just have to pay nearly $10k more for it.
And the rest of your "overrated" list is almost laughable....I've driven all of those cars except the Mustang GT and even owned some of them and "overrated" they definitely are not.
You should rename this thread to "hater" list instead....it's more accurate....not to mention a stock SRT-4 would probably dust your entire "underrated" list in a straight line or on a road course.

Overated: 1) Evo
Underated: 1) SRT4
It's all a person opinion, I've given my reasons. I hate no cars, just because I think it is overrated doesn't mean it sucks, just means I think it is overrated. If you don't agree with me, than atleast you can do is prove otherwise, but saying it's all out of hate shows, that I just got under your skin and you really have nothing to stand on. I gave my reason for the SRT-4 being overrated in MY OPINION. Great car don't get me wrong, but the people who follow it in my opinion make it to be much more than it is, and comments like- "not to mention a stock SRT-4 would probably dust your entire "underrated" list in a straight line or on a road course." Case proven. I didn't just say I think car A and car B are underrated because I said so, I gave my reasons, if you can read I assume, or were you blinded with hurt feelings, you'd see my reasons. The Z car is great, but still overrated in my opinion, very few people will get a brand new Z for $26K so stop using the absolute base price as an average to sway the facts onto your side. Most Zs cost around $30K, don't believe me go to your local Nissan dealership and see. Like I said great looking car, but I believe it's performance is overrated, sure it can beat some cars, will destroy my Audi no doubt, but compare apples to apples, and you will see the Z car is quickly overmatched. Like I said this is just my opinion, you may not like it and may not like yours, but hey that's your f8ckin opinion and I respect that. So stay on f8ckin' topic and post your overrated and underrated list and stop with the personal f8ckin attacks, cuz if your attentions are to sway my opinion dude you gonna have to come at with a lot more than what you did.
