The Most Overrated and Underrated Cars?
In my experience just about every owner who owns something with a 4G63 tends to think that their ride is God's Chariot and his gift to mankind. I lik my car, I appreciate its abilities and the strength of the motor, but I recognize that there are better cars for other people.

My overrated list consists of-
SRT-4 (I have many, and many reasons)
Integra Type R (the engine is just better suited for a civic hatch or crx)
WRX/Sti (I have yet to be impressed by one of these cars, I see so many claiming 500WHP+, but not backing these claims up at the track)
Pre-Supercharged SVT Cobras (Talk about having a big shadow casted over them)
BMW M3 (I swear the owners and their fans think these cars are unbeatable, sweet car, but stock EVO all around performance owns you and for 1/2 the cost)
Pre 2005 Ford Mustang GT (I have many, and many reasons)
Nissan 350Z (Good Looking Car, but the performance is just ok especially without FI. In a track comparison test by Road and Track, it placed lasted place. Even with FI, they run 12s, all that money to run 12s)
My underrated list consists of-
3000GT VR4/Dodge Stealth RT Turbo (Yes it is very heavy, but why do people continue to ignore it's great handling, braking, and consistent high 13 second 1/4 mile passes stock, not bad for a GT)
Mazda Miata (This chick car really has potential)
Infiniti G35 Coupe and Sedan (Overshadowed by the 350Z, why? It's all around the better car and package)
Subaru Forester XT Turbo (How many people know that this SUV is one of the quickest SUVs on the planet, only the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and Mercedes G55 AMG are quicker.
Toyota Supras MK III (Great potential from these cars, just the MK IV Supra really casts a big shadow)
Hyundai Tiburon GT (Very easy to supercharge these cars and run with stock EVOs)
So that's my list and reasons, probably forgot some, what does your list look like?

Overrated:
Pontiac GTO (yes, even the LS2 powered junker)
VW GTi R32 (unimpressed on test drive)
Underrated:
E30 M3's (everyone wants the newer chassis)
Your mom (She might be over 50 but shes hottttttt)
Whacked...
That list of overrated cars is whacked. I sure hope you have driven most of those cars because if you haven't the list is even more whacked. I don't even know where to start.....
SRT comes from a long line of overpowered mopar hatches (re. 2.2 Omni) DODGE was making fast hatches before you were born.
INTEGRA TYPE-R best handling front drive car ever...5 star car Evo magazine. First 4 cyclinder engine to reach 100hp per litre.
WRX/STI the US hasn't even seen the best STI's. Tuners in the UK have STI's that crush EVO's on the Nurburgring.
BMW M3 On the right course a E30 M3 will turn laps faster than an EVO even giving away 100hp. A new MR costs 36K a '02 M46 M3 is the same price. The M3 has 333hp stock and properly cared for will go to 200k. The EVO will be a bucket of bolts by then. A legend the M3.
Drive all of those cars on the track and I bet you will revise your list.....

Evos and Sti's are super overrated by their owners, but the most overrated car of all time has to be the NSX....what a POS in performance for the price you have to pay...hey, at least it looks good
has anyone said that the USDM lancers are underrated?
(i skipped 2 pages)
seriously, last season of autox has proved that my Lancer can do some amazing things
out of the 5 scored events I attended last year, I won a trophy 4 times out of the 5. Plus I placed 3rd in the driving instructional event for the timed course with the Lancer.. This car is definitely underrated

i think alot of the cars that were said are "underrated" becuase of bad Reliably or are a hard to work on..... like the 3000GTvr-4, Preludes, and the 300zx
like with the 300zx you pretty much have to drop the motor everytime you need to work on it
i have never worked a 3000gt but i hear it's a pain in the butt and everyone i know with a vr-4 had problems as soon as they modd'd them..
And with preludes of my 6 friends who have/do own them ... only two still have theirs... and one of them had to motor swap bc his motor blew up
same thing with the older 4g63's most people seem them as a unreliable car...
how is a E46 M3 overrated?!?!.. it's NA inline-6 (which are rare now-adays) making 333hp! 100hp per liter... not many na cars can do that... and plus on a track... stock to stock ... it takes out many cars above it's class.. no not all but most.
Even the E36 M3's destoryed almost all stock cars at the time on a race track
Question how is the Elise Underpowered? ... ya it's making "only" 190hp... but it only weights 2000 lbs (that's LIKE 2/3's the weight of an Evo 8).... plus power to weight... an evo makes .0836 ... the Elise make .095... that's some crazy power to weight... any more powerful and an average driver couldnt handle the car.
Overrated:
Skyline (i'm not i don't love this car.. but the only reason it's cool is bc we dont have them in the states)
350z/g35 (they are quick... but due it to looks it given more credit then alot of cars)
AE86 (the only it got big is because of how cheap they USE to be)
Underrated:
GMC Typhoon/Sylone (no need to example this)
Grand Nationals (once again sleeper gods)
Audi S4 (all you ever hear about is the m3 .. what about this v8 AWD monster!)
Audi RS6 (4.2 v8 twin turbo AWD enouph said)
240xs (simple swipe and it runs 13's)

most over-rated
- that pile of doo-doo viper! yeah it's got a ton of torque and a ton of horses but it's still using a 1918 technology push-rod engine and can't get all the toque to the ground anyway.
one of the the most under-rated
- the merkur xr4ti's. bmw body, turbo 2.3 litre, 1000lbs lighter than the t-bird turbo coupe. everyone thinks it's a front wheel drive car. noone actually knows what it is. but it pulled 15's right out of the box and is capable of over 700 horses, just look at rick byrnes's salt flat racer using the 2.3 block and some crazy a$$ mods that anyone could do and he pulls off a 208 mph run!
