Hey what ever your happy with go with it. The R32 is a compromise over the EVO which trades some performance for luxury. I realy like the new one coming out of Germany. Well there will always be EVO's around if you feel the need to come back.

I sympathize, I came from the audi world, and I might got back. But not without my baby. It would be nice to have cruise control again. R32 is a fat ride, the new new one are pretty nasty, too.

I've driven multiple R32's (perks of the job) and as heavy and "underpowered" as they are, they are a very nice drive and they feel remarkably quick.

I actually almost bought one before I started working for Forge!

Good choice!

**** off to all the fanbois calling a Golf R32 a bad ride or girl's car. It just shows you've never driven one or sat shotgun. I have nothing but respect for that car. My buddy sold his WRX wagon for an R32 and has nothing but positive things to say about it after almost 20k miles on the clock. He let me drive it just before I bought my Evo. It's a great handling car with plenty of low-end torque. It's heavier than an Evo, but it doesn't feel like a heavy car. It's also less powerfull than the Evo, but it doesn't feel anything like a weak car. It's also very comfortable even on the most beat up roads. The seats are aggressively bolstered, the shifter is smooth as silk, and the rest of the interior looks like something you'de find in your boss's BMW 540i. It's not nearly as raw as the Evo or STi (and it's not intended to be), but I gaurantee half the fanbois in here knocking it would be driving one if not for the Evo or STi.

I don't know if I'm a "fanboi," but I also consider it a girl's car, but then again, I consider all VWs to be girlie cars. I know they're nice, but if I wanted nice, I'd have an M3. I know that's not in the same class, but I went with the Evo knowing it was raw. It has a purpose, and that's to race. The R32 looks like it's supposed to be able to race, has components that make it seem like it's supposed to race, but then in the end is not meant to race. That's fine for people who don't race, but many of the R32 owners I come across think they are in the same "class" as my Evo. My how they get deflated afterwards...

Too bad your "manhood" is based on what you drive. I never saw a gender requirement for this car. Some people prefer something a bit more refined than the EVO. Performance is a great thing, but it's not always the number one priority for a car owner.

You're right, of course, but it doesn't change the fact that some cars are associated with females and their tendencies, while others are associated with masculinity.

Male = Evo, Vette/Z28/TA, Mustang GT/Cobra
Female = All VWs, all Volvos, 350z/G35, V6 Mustang, all Civics/Accords, Camrys, all Wagons (including WRX), 3-seris Bimmers, C-series Mercedes, etc

Do men drive all of these cars? Do women drive all of these cars? Yes on both, but each vehicle still carries a persona that is unavoidable.

Fanbois are unable to objectively discuss any vehicle other than their own. Name calling, serviceability exaggerations, and/or stereotypes about car X's owners are generally sufficient enough to put car X's owners on the defensive, at which point other "fanbois" will be drawn to the thread like flies to bull%hit. The objective of which is to avoid any potential situation, dialogue or debate where car X may be potentially percieved to have any advantage, however small, over the fanboi's whip.

No they're not really in the same class of performance. I agree. The R32 is geared more towards the single, 30-something weekend snowboarder. As a hatch it's also more utilitarian than even the 4 door Evo. My buddy said most people buying them up were existing Gold 1.8T owners doing it on a trade.

Yeah, I guess some people make perception a big priority in their purchase, but it gets really LAME when someone attempts to use it as a form of one-upmanship in a thread. That's right up there with irrelevant name-calling or the inclusion of uninformed sexual-preference references. There are so many exceptions to car gender that there's almost no point to trying to label a car as gender specific.

I see more men driving 350z's than women. I see men in Miata's dominate at autocrosses. I say drive whatever the hell you want.
