Nah...there are plenty of people on this board that should be higher up on that list than him. Yes, he can be harsh, but I think he's grown on me a bit. He's actually one of the most sensible people on here. This board is severely lacking in sensible members. The solution you have presented here is not sensible.

Back on topic:

Congrats on the R32. It has some of the benefits of the EVO (AWD, >200 HP, good handling) and is noticably more civilized. The interior is nice, the ride is definitely quieter -- that's a good thing to have at the end of a long day @ work.

There are so many exceptions to car gender that there's almost no point to trying to label a car as gender specific.

I see more men driving 350z's than women. I see men in Miata's dominate at autocrosses. I say drive whatever the hell you want.

Excellently put. People have different priorities when it comes to car. In my case performance was the goal. But I also drive a Miata for my daily driver but did not want anything boring. They are sporty light and reminded my of my AE86. But the selection of a car just because it might be driven or associated with the opposite sex or because it offends your masculinity is down right shallow and in the end if you were a true enthusist would never use in the selection of a car.

You miss out on some of the great cars of the world because of such a shallow view.

I can understand the selection of cars in terms of luxury over performance or performance over luxury or those willing to pay to get both or even looks on some level. And you know what, if the Evo or STI never came out but the R32 did, then I would be driving one.

I love the R32...it's sort of good at a lot of stuff but not great at everything. There are AWD cars more powerful, competitors that are lighter, and compact cars more luxurious, but the R32 would score well on all those lists.

Enjoy your new wheels.

Wow. We have a wInnAr here. The Evo isn't exactly a flyweight, either. Did you know that the Evo, STi, and R32 all have curb weights that are within 100 lbs. of each other?

Get a clue man.

Do men drive all of these cars? Do women drive all of these cars? Yes on both, but each vehicle still carries a persona that is unavoidable.
This is a nearsighted point of view if I ever saw one. So, according to your logic, I suppose an M3 is a girly car, huh? After all, it is a 3-series bimmer.

You should go drive an R32... really. The only legitimate dislike in your list is that it's a 2-door car, which is certainly not for everyone, and can be a hassle if you transport other people around frequently. It definitely is not "basically a Jetta." Drive both and you'll see big difference. Granted, they're built on the same platform, but that's where the basic similarities end, IMHO. Compare a Jetta and a regular Golf -- that's fair. I don't judge people according to what car they buy. You shouldn't, either. Since when does the reputation of a car company affect that of an individual? I'm curious to know what "many others" means, too.

It's tough to understand some folks here... If I had it my way, I'd have an Evo and my R32. In the end, I wanted a hatchback.

Interesting... Poor analogy at best, but interesting. Get back to us when you know more about why the car was brought here and why only 5000 were built for the US.

Oh where do I start? For a site that supposed to show car enthusiasm you guys just seem to plain suck. What does it matter what vehicle the person drives? They got it for personal preference and thats it, end of story. As far as vw not being reliable or their company not doing the greatest you my friend seem to be a little missinformed. Vw is a great car and last a long time. As well r32's are capable of extreme amounts of power. May not be the cheapest in the world but hey what do you want. I say awesome choice the r32 is one bad *** car enjoy it and honestly who the hell cares what anyone else has to say!!!

you can say he's stupid for buying something esle. different people have different taste. It's his money anyway and he's the one who will drive it so why would he keep something base what people say? r32 is a great car about 4 years ago, until the STI and the EVO came out. i still like the interior in the r32.
