let the flamming begin (I'm still right though).
yea to bad i think people like warrtalon should be kicked out this forum just for the simple fact that he's on like every page on this forum and bcuz of his/her annoyiness. he has just become popularly annoying!! sum1 get him/her out of here!
Its pretty godamn funny reading this thread from Australia.
Everyone and their dog drives a skyline here. White R33GTSTs with bodykit are more common at McDonalds than Toyotas. Even R34GTRs arent that rare.
Evos on the other hand are super rare cult cars. I see another one maybe once a month.
Its funny how these things work. I would never hand my evo over for a GTR though. Way too heavy. Unless you are at the drag strip or on a highway roll the Evo will pound the GTR. And even the GTRs have to watch out for the Supras on the highway....

Some of the haters should take a look at some road course and auto-x times for the R32. It's not as slow as you might think. Forget about drag racing. No AWD car was built for this.
Get out to a track where driver skill is paramount, and you'll find that the R32 will hang right up there with the best of 'em.

If i really could have my way I would have kept the evo and tuned it like crazy and bought the r32 as the daily. What the r32 lacks in power everything else it makes up for plus some. I think it handles just as good and probably would for sure if it had the same tires. I also kinda like the fact that the r32 is very rare. Just seeing if theres anyone else who feels the same or completely disagrees.
I also got a 100,000 mile warrenty good till December 2010, the r 32 had 18,000 miles on it. The warrenty was up on my evo in 3000 miles.

thats how they sold my friend on his, rare... i seen 2 other blue ones and a red one i believe now in the same town as him, thats 4 R32s... I personally would of rather him buying the STi he was looking at than that thing. I drove it and it was boring as hell... He didnt want an Evo because i already had one..... But oh well have fun..

Wow I started this post liek 3 hours ago. I got back from the bar and theres a war on the evo forum. Haha this is great. I'll say a couple of things the evo is awesome. Anyone who associates cars with gender needs to grow up. Come on grow up guys that only tells me your mommy or daddy bought your car for you. Also I do remember reading a car and driver article about the evo sti and r32 and the r32 beat all 3 of them around the track. Track coarse with lots of turns R32 wins. Coarse with long straight-aways evo wins. I would love for every r32 driver to drive the evo and every evo driver to drive the r32. Both groups would be pleasently surprised.
I owned an R32.. And volkswagen's are percieved in so many different ways these days.. If you care SO much about the image your car promotes, I don't know how you can call yourself an enthusiast..
My 2002 GTi 337 edition, a girly car? Not to sound cocky, but I never lost in that thing, obviously straight line **** contests aren't what it's all about, but I would destroy anything that came next to me, evo, sti, z06, porche... It all comes down to your priorities.. I loved the fact that people saw my GTI as nothing but a cool looking golf with a front mount.. And then they'd hear the wastegate open and see me fly off and knowing that my 20,000 dollar german econobox just raped their $80,000 sports car really puts the smile on my face.. It's all about learning a new platform for me, and making the best it can be.. I built the motor, put a 3071r on it and made 360whp on 23psi and pump gas and 445 on 33psi and c-16..
Now, the r32.. It's by no means a girls car, and it's not a boy's car either.. It's a man's car in a different sense than the evo... The people that compare them in any way shape or form are clealy looking at it the wrong way.. The r32 wasn't meant to compete with the evo or sti, it was meant for the older guy who wanted something fun, reliable, the quality in all aspects that you could find in any bmw or audi, and the rarity of the car itself.. I loved it, but it wasn't for me.. The low end torque is amazing, I have never felt anything like it, or been able to stay in 3rd gear at 1200rpm from a stop sign and have no trouble accellerating, it was great... I love the feeling of a turbo too much, and to be honest, it's handeling doesn't compare to the evo in the least.. I had h&r coilovers, adustable rear control arms, sticky tires and an adjustable rear sway, and still, typical of any VW, it pushed through turns because of it's unbalanced chassis, and the Haldex awd system is just not meant to do what you'd expect it to in a turn..
My evo, bone stock, has better handeling in all aspects and it's still stock, granted, the r32 is a joy to drive, it's not meant for someone who want's the aggressive lines, harsh kick in the *** from a turbo, and an all out track monster.. It's a great daily driver, and if I were 30 and didn't want to mod anymore, and wanted something fun to get to work in, I'd keep the r32.. One 6000rpm launch at the track in that thing and the rear dif blew, and that right there told me that if the rear dif can't handle a launch with stock power, there's no way i'm dumping money into this thing for a turbo or s/c..
sorry for the length, but for those of you who judge a book by it's cover really need to stop being ignorant and appreciate the options we have in the US these days.. We are talking about 3 cars that weren't even supposed to come here.. as an enthusiast, i'm inclined to think it's pretty sweet that there's a car for everyone..
Now, if you want a real comparison of all three, read up over here... http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publi...icle_330.shtml

well said bernievoi, still think the r32 is close on the handling. My drunk friend just wrote this (cant delete it)=gpt a r 32 so bitt my nuts... evos r nice i loved it... but r32 r serious!!!
Interesting... Poor analogy at best, but interesting. Get back to us when you know more about why the car was brought here and why only 5000 were built for the US.
