I used to sell them and we always told customers that they are "about" the same speed as the older Z06 so yeah about mid 12's or so.

Fast is relative. A C6 should be a 170MPH+ car...enough to pull away from most Evos on the highway.

It might sound irrelevant but remember the Z06 vette with 405hp was gear rated to not exceed 170mph and the top speed was achieve in 5th gear instead of 6th speed. The final ratio was so low that the car had no torque to sustain that speed.

Now days just about any Evo 8 with a mere TB , MBC and air filter could easily be in the 170-175MPH range easily. We are limited governed to 155MPH from factory,
I personally met a guy(mexican young dude) with a lot of money(very rare by the way) that ran his 2005 Silver stock Evo on the I-19 Nogales Highway at 165MPH a few times. His car is bone stock and he is also a guys that had to replace a clutch with less than 2000 miles(I finally met the guy that the dealer kept telling me that blew his clutch within 2 weeks).

I say that a light modded Evo has nothing to fear from a 400HP Vette on top speed. Just my .50c.

Carlos

Keep in mind, if a corvette can hook up, they are nasty fast. Usually they have higher trap speeds in the quarter.
But if you catch one from anything under 30mph, hes toast.

True, but a lightly moded Evo without the 155mph speed governor will also be a 170mph+ car....

Carlos, actually the Z06 achieves its 171 mph max. speed in sixth gear instead of fifth...

The 345/350bhp achieves 175mph in fifth instead of sixth gear...

With the 8's 5th gear ratio at 7-7500 rpm what is the top speed?

You guys kill me Sure the EVO is fast and all, but the Z06 has a lot more power per pound in stock form. Also, even a modified EVO would have to have slightly more total power than the Z06 in order to attain the same top speed due to the AWD drivetrain losses... Anyway, no matter what, I cannot believe how quickly so many ppl in these forums dismiss a 12 second 1/4 mile car as "slow"... Do you guys have any idea how much power it takes and how hard it really is to go under 13 seconds in a 1/4 mile?
I think ppl are either spoiled or unrealistic. I don't believe very many stock EVOs can break into the 12's and probably most would run in the 13's.. Sure, a few guys have specially fast cars and I'd guess all of them are running at least a boost controller and modified exhaust to get those fast ETs.... But I don't think that any car that can actually run 13 seconds flat or under is a "slow" car

Sorry guys, I did not read right... you are talking about the C6 Vette, not the Z06, right?

That's right. The top speed of the EVO is limited by power and aerodynamics...

^ what he said. The C6 is bad *** and the C6 Z06 is a complete monster! It has a faster pick up from a roll than a Ferrari Enzo... not by much, but still.. I'd gladly take a Z06 over my Evo any day!
