His 2001 Z06 literally felt apart, his brakes were 100% destroyed, the brake rotors completly cracked, the brake pads came out in pieces just like old cure french cheese. His rotors were also wrorped Then he hit rubber cone and made a 8"cracked on his front bumper.

To make matters even more degrading, despite he was perhaps the fastest car at the track unfortunately he had to share that condition with a mere European specs 140hp Honda Civic hatchback with a good suspension set up and a great driver. My friend overlapped everyone at the road course except the 89-91Honda civic hatchback which was taking the turns in 3 wheels all the time.

Not to mention that he ordered a yellow 2001 vette Z06 and the dealer had to change his order because on of the salesman took it for a spin and destroyed the engine, then he ordered a silver one.

Also, don't forget that the Z06 has a deficiency that burns a quarter of oil every just under 1000 miles.

It is not a bad car but lets tell the people the entire history. I love the car, I almost got one before the Evo but the vettes also break.

The comment about Jay Leno, yeah, I believe it, the guy have like 100 cars and don't really have time to drive any of them, I can clearly see that he can drive a Z06 and call it reliable, he probably drove his vette z06 1000 MILES.

Do you know what I mean guys?

Carlos
The oil problems in the C5 Z06 only occured in the first year run and were immediately corrected the following year. It also didn't happen to every car that year; just a small percentage.

Carlos, that deficiency was only related to 2001 models. 02s and up are bulletproof reliable. As you know, I'm already saving to buy a used 03 C5 Z06 "50th Anniversaty" with low mileage...I always loved the Z06 and I was ready to buy one until a test drove your Evo...that's the reason why I drive one this day

What would everyone rather have as a second car a C6(non Z06) or an Evo IX?

I have actually been debating this. I can get the C6 at GMID pricing and then from there do the APS TT kit for around 650whp. Or get the IX at the same price as everyone else and put the extra money into mods.

Stock for stock they are very close in performance, but everything else about the cars is basically completely different. I loved the tq that my LS1 camaro had and the instant throttle response (oh and the sound) but I loved the turbo rush from my Syclone(my only prior turbo car) the awd and how easy it was to get more power out of.

That said, to the C4 guy above with wounded pride who is crying about the insulting replies he's received, I have a hard truth to add: What passed for "performance" in a 1986 Corvette would get dusted by several overweight automatic front wheel drive family sedans on the market today... With two less cylinders and a ton more creature comforts, no less.
Well said.

And if I wanted a car that gives off that 'I'm a child molester that rocks a mullet' vibe, I'd prefer a 1986 Corvette.

There is thread on Corvetteforum.com where a 06' Z06 has longtubes, DR's, and no air filter and ran a 10.998@130mph look it up or you can find it on svtperformance.com.
