And the Evo is just an ugly Lancer? You = proving my point.

No no no. I didn't say it's an 'ugly lancer'. I said it looks like a lancer AND the lancer looks ugly. If I wanted a car that gives off that 'my parents bought me the current fad car' vibe, I'd prefer the EVO over the regular lancer.
Slightly.

Like I said I personally like both cars and can show respect to both of them. Not too many parents are willing to drop $30k+ on their kid btw. And alot of people wouldn't want to buy a vette because it gives off that "I'm a retiree and chose between this and a Cadillac" vibe.

This is a Z06 thread, not a Lancer thread, first off. Don't go criticising me for posting in the wrong place. The circumstances that brought me to this thread are none of your concern.
Second, you make an assumption that I have no greater purpose here than to cause trouble. You couldn't possibly know that (for example) I refrain from disagreeing about the steering characteristics of the Vette when criticism arises. Some opinions are fine the way they are presented.
Unfortunately, there are a few people in here who have made broadly sweeping generalizations that I found insulting. Scout for one, who attempted to classify all Vette owners using mostly derogatory language, and you who called both sides bullheaded.
I feel that I have a right to call the EVO ugly. Just like any number of other poster's right to call the Vette 'plastic'. Which I have ignored or only indirectly addressed in each case.
I don't feel that you (or scout) have a right to make generalizations about the type of person (as a corvette owner) that I am. I had hoped that you would be able to see the point I wanted to make without an embarrassingly drawn out debate.
What you said was insulting to me. You singled me out in particular for a comment which was not directed at you and was intended to be 'light' in tone anyways.
If 'I' have made any mistake here it's in allowing this to degenerate into a public disagreement and for that I apologize to the rest of the forum.
But not to you.

What exactly is the point you are trying to prove, that Lancers are ugly? That must be it seeing as it is mentioned in the majority of your posts. Perhaps if you put "I think" in front of it the tone will come across a little lighter. Also how is that not directed at me? I think the Evo looks awesome and has amazing performance and potential and that is why I am here on this forum.
I don't post here to insult anyone so if I indeed have done that, then I apologize. My "broad generalization" was pointed at both sides and aimed primarily at the posters in this thread as it had turned from a discussion on the +'s and -'s of each vehicle into a bashing competition. Also note that I said "It seems" and there was no mention of "every" Corvette and Evo owner.

I drive the 03 wingless silver.
Hmm that second run seemed the most legit. The Z06 owner looks as if me missed some shifts the other runs.
Funny that the evo had > 10K in mods while the Z06 was stock and they were about dead even the second run, interesting. Z06 retaining warrenty FTW!!!

More than 10K in mods actually if you count the install it's closer to 15-18K, but the EVO wasn't on race gas either. 28-29psi on meth is no slouch though.
You can't win them all...I love Buschur, AMS, etc etc, but they have 100 octane TT vettes running similiar and faster times on drag radials....than their shop cars.
It's fun playing the underdog and being different etc in the end if you really want to play it's hard to beat a V-8 in the right packaging. The new Z06 is just that..wait until the bolt on ones with spray start to show up!!
The whole point is having fun and being safe

Just wow.
A C6 Z06 is a substantially greater performance car than an Evo. Those of you trying to compare them sound a little silly. That Vette is an absolute bargain at that price, and has everything a true performance car should.
That said, to the C4 guy above with wounded pride who is crying about the insulting replies he's received, I have a hard truth to add: What passed for "performance" in a 1986 Corvette would get dusted by several overweight automatic front wheel drive family sedans on the market today... With two less cylinders and a ton more creature comforts, no less.

Jay Leno says his Z06 is one of his favorite cars cause it's one of the only ones he has that he can really beat without worrying about breaking.
Don't forget that Vette's have their own seperate factory and their reliability is completely seperate from the rest of GM. Absolutely stellar reliability considering the nature of the car. Nothing in it's class can take such a beating.

His 2001 Z06 literally felt apart, his brakes were 100% destroyed, the brake rotors completly cracked, the brake pads came out in pieces just like old cure french cheese. His rotors were also wrorped Then he hit rubber cone and made a 8"cracked on his front bumper.
To make matters even more degrading, despite he was perhaps the fastest car at the track unfortunately he had to share that condition with a mere European specs 140hp Honda Civic hatchback with a good suspension set up and a great driver. My friend overlapped everyone at the road course except the 89-91Honda civic hatchback which was taking the turns in 3 wheels all the time.
Not to mention that he ordered a yellow 2001 vette Z06 and the dealer had to change his order because on of the salesman took it for a spin and destroyed the engine, then he ordered a silver one.
Also, don't forget that the Z06 has a deficiency that burns a quarter of oil every just under 1000 miles.
It is not a bad car but lets tell the people the entire history. I love the car, I almost got one before the Evo but the vettes also break.
The comment about Jay Leno, yeah, I believe it, the guy have like 100 cars and don't really have time to drive any of them, I can clearly see that he can drive a Z06 and call it reliable, he probably drove his vette z06 1000 MILES.
Do you know what I mean guys?
Carlos
