In top speed, yes, but a Top Fuel dragster that can hit almost 300 mph in less than 4 seconds is still quicker. So who is going to build the first 300MPH plus EVO for the flats??? My vote is AMS or Buschur . . .

I am making a point, that if you want to brag about speed and 1/4 mile time then supras are not the best. It is kind of funny that he is writing about how he hates people, in this case evo owners/drivers, that think their car is the best. Isnt he doing the same thing with the supra?

 

SO? Evo's are quicker off the line too then Supra's and a LOT would hold them off for the 1/4 mile before getting BLOWN by.

 

The whole purpose of the post was to show how fast supras have become in the last 18 months not to say EVO's suck blah blah blah. AMS's car and Dan's were used as comparison because they are well known that's it.

I think EVO's make better track cars autox and roadrace and I think EVO's make better high hp street cars too........just in all out drag the supra is a better platform. If I wanted a supra I would have bought one Again, it was just to show how fast they have become...pretty darn fast!!

Supra's are bad ***. There's no denying it.

The only thing I hate is the inflated price on them, esp after the whole Fast and the Furious craze.

What's wrong with an EVO, Jasil? So what if it's not a drag car....it's still one helluva a car...

But I do regard the Supra as a track car similar to or better than the EVO.

For supras being out for a few good years more than the evo 8, the part selection is pretty wide. Give it time and you all might be making 4digits sooner or later =P.

 

Just to be clear Stock TT Supras were usually always good for 13.4-13.5 @ 106-107XXmph based on all the articles I've collected over the years(Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Road and Track, Turbo Magazine, etc) They are also built like a ROCK and the stock engine can handle up tp 1000hp on a good tune. It's well known now, but very basic boltons on the stock turbos(DP, Exhaust, BC) will get you 115-120 traps.

They also pulled .98 gs on the skidpad and flew around the slalom at near 69mph. They had the BEST times for years in Car and Driver for 70-0 braking of 149 ft until it was bested by a Porsche Carrera GT.

All that stock performance for well over 10 years ago is impressive as hell to me.
I think we all know what modified Supras are capable of....
In my opinion the EVO is right up there with the Supra and I look forward to see how they push the envelope from here on out. Fantastic cars, no doubt.

I love the Supra's. i think there awesome cars.... but i really enjoy not having to switch tires at the track just to make some decient times. so im going to stick with my EVO

 

Supras are GREEAAT Cars, but i cant seem to justify sending 30+ thousand dollars on a mostly stock 98 and older ANYTHING....Idk thats just me!

I got my 95 TT with BPU mods and 33K miles for 27K. People seem to forget that these cars cost around 40-50K when new. Finding a good deal does require a fair amount of work though and you need to be ready to pounce on it. You get what you pay for and you can get earlier Supras(93-94) for 25K or less. It's also a good invstment(As far as cars go) because many post 98 year owners can sell their cars and get what they paid for. How many other cars within the last 15 years can say that?

It's also a common myth that "Fast and Furious" was the main cause of skyrocketing Supra prices. I was in the market for a used Supra in 2000 well before the movie came out and the prices were almost as high then as the are now. I-Motors(Auto Broker) quoted me 25-26K in 2000 and I paid 27K in 2003. The main cause of increased prices is because Toyota doesn't make them anymore and the demand is high. When you factor in the wrecked/totaled cars and low production numbers the supply is constantly shrinking. I'm sure the movie had a little to do with the prices, but not as much as people would think and it's now 5 years later and the prices are still the same as they were in 2000.

yep, Supra's in stock form are down right amazing and waaaaay ahead of its time.

in today's market, modified supra's are still one of, if not the craziest cars on the road. it is just an awesome car. way over-engineered and over-built by toyota IMO
