2007 is going too be way too much. The car will not have the same passion and fire the the r33 and r34 have. And from the rumors and everything (which not everything on the internet is true) i hear they are considering a pattle shifter.

At least in the US right now, having an Evo is not risky, its 100% safe rather than weay back before 2003.
Same will go for the Skyline. Why spend like 80k on an R34 and be at risk for the duration of your ownership. Just like putting your 80k halfway within the grave. 2007 is not far, and if the price of the 2007 GTR is still at 80k, at least u are secure no one will catch for mere ownership of the Godzilla.

Any reason specificly why they do not allow the r34 and r32? Crash test ratings or what?

R34 = OBDII Required (can't implement it into them, at least no one has done it)
R33 = 1995-1996 No OBDII Required in the US for those cars, also the dual airbags may have something to do with it.
R32 = Dunno why, it seems they would be fine, considering how old they are
There is still hope for you guys out there though. In 2014 (only 8 years away) you'll be able to free and clear import a 1989 R32 GT-R with no worries, because it's 25 years old at that point. The US has a 25 year clause, Canada has a 15 year clause (although I heard rumours that it's being eliminated in Canada).
If you are really dying for a Skyline, and just can't wait and don't have the money you've got three options:
1) Try to move to Japan (good luck getting citizenship)
2) Join the military and get to Japan (or the UK) that way (I'm hoping to get stationed in Japan next, I'll know on Sept 14th)
3) Wait 8 more years and buy your 89 GT-R
Also the good part about being in the military as long as you are overseas you can own ANY car you want. On base in Italy we had Skylines, EVO's, Cosworths, Chasers, etc, etc, etc.

, and yet, many people bought it. If they want more power, they modify it. Rather than bring in an Evo 5 or 6 and go through all the **** that may even be too risky.
So for the Skyline, they may have to have a special model for the US market to confirm with its regulations. Just like the others have said about the Evo, "at least we are getting the Skyline soon".
Just having a 2007 GTR and an Evo X under one garage is such a beauty

FYI, the Autoplus R34 was converted to LHD at Skyline Motors LLC in California, wheich then the shop had closed already. For them to get in the R34 just for it to get converted and shipped back to the Philippines for the JUN engine, they had to go through tremendous paper works.
If I were you, don't risk getting an R34 anymore. You are basically putting precious $$$ on the line. Even if someopne tells you that they can bring in Skylines, somehow, there would be something fishy about it.

My cousin who lives in California was supposed to ship his Evo 5 from the Philippines to the US through Evolution Imports. It didnt push through coz he is risking his money, basically, somthing he is unsure of. Yes he may get all the stares in the US by driving around in a raw Evo 5 RS, but how sure is he that it will still be in his hands after a year or so. So he decided to leave it here. Though Evolution Imports I think had brought in Evo 7s and a puny number of CP9A Evos, he still aint risking it.
Why is the Skyline so popular? I never heard of a Skyline winning any major races in the past 15 yrs. From the reveiws, they run 13.7 -13.8 1/4 and they are heavy. I guess in the US it is more of the rarity and ricer image built up over the years.
Wasn't there this stroy of this one guy who lived in Japan but wanted to take his Evo with him to the states, so he disassembled the Evo piece by piece and sent them to the US as auto parts or sumin, and then reasssembled it there? Could it possibly be done with an R34?

The skyline is just like the supra. An aftermarket beast. As for it winning races i am not too sure on however i am sure that it is one of the more serious tuner cars out there. Closed matches are, evo, sti, supra. Just a different type of car really.

If you can provide the info as to it being an off-road race car it's not too hard to do.

Again, pls do not use the quartermile as the only basis, like how other people here would judge who got a better Evo.
