As for getting an Evo 5, 6 or 6 TME into the US, best thing is to buy the front cut, engine, drivetrain, trunklid, skirts, rims, suspension, brakes, dashboard, seats, bumpers and fenders from Japan. You can get it piece by piece. In the Philippines, there are some autoshops that sell those parts. so if u got a mirage and got connections in Japan, then by all means, go for it!

Again, pls do not use the quartermile as the only basis, like how other people here would judge who got a better Evo.
I don't base my judgement on just 1/4 times -- that is only slightly strong point of the Skyline though. The fact is, they haven't won anything. Corvette -- yes! Skyline -- No.

The guys at corner-carvers had a field day ripping the skyline apart: http://forums.corner-carvers.com/sho...ighlight=fr500

I'm pretty sure a few years back the skyline has won the Japanese Gt500 series a few times!

The Skyline has done plenty for motorsports, in Japan and Europe. IT was actually banned at one point because it was too dominant. Now it competes in the Japan GT as RWD only like all the other entrants. It wins some it loses some.

I just dont know which race that was, but it was held in the Nurburgring and it won! Thats why they got the Skyline R34 Vspec II Nur, named after the Nurburgring where it won.

i read this somehwere i think motortrend. the point of the skyline was for nissan to show that it can beat porsche around its track Nurburgring. the r32 did it until the porsche 993 tt came out. then the r33 beat it. then the 996tt came out and beat it. then the r34 beat that one. the skyline's sole purpose was to lab the nurburgring track as fast as possible. i

It was banned in the early 90's from the Australian touring car championship. nothing could touch it so they outruled it. now the series consists of two cars, the Holden Commodore, and the Ford Falcon. both V8-powered as they were all those years ago. I think they've only recently beat the times set by the Skylines in the early 90's.

As far as quarter mile times go, the worlds fastest AWD is a Skyline GT-R owned by HKS. There are a few running 9's on street tyres too (I'm talking about the GT-R, the big daddy AWD RB26DETT-powered beast).

I think for 2007 the GT-R won't be badged as a Skyline but just as a Nissan GT-R. This could vary dependant upon which market it's in. It may be sold as a Skyline in some countries for market appeal but just as a Nissan GT-R in countries where the Skyline name isn't well known.

Isnt the Skyline quartermile record held by Mario of Exvitermini in Australia? Their GTR clocked 8.27secs. www.exvitermini.com

What was the record run of the HKS and the Veilside Skyline? I think JUN Auto also has a record breaking Skyline.

Wait wait let me get this straight.

You would be willing to trade your car + cash for something slower, heavier, illegal and older. Let me guess: you want RHD + the rice image of a skyline

No offence to anyone but there are numerous threads on importing laws and all that gibberish over on Supraforums.com and to tell you the truth, right now its impossible to import one over to the states. Its the truth and dont deny it because you think VIN swapping is legal

heres your info

www.supraforums.com and go look under importing cars in the suggestions forums. I just want to throw one more thing out...why...seriously...why...Get a nicer car for a better price for your money, mod it, have fun with it and don't be worried about it opposed to buying some skyline and having to deal with every ricer trying to race you at every light, every cop trying to hassle your ***, and have you even driven a RHD car? Yeah thats what I thought..not...let me tell you left hand turns are a *****

Only way I could see myself ever driving a skyline is on the track, safe from cops. Sorry, its the truth.

Before getting rude in this thread guys. take your time and read http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/import/

It appears it IS legal to have one of these. But since we have no experience personally on this nor is anyone talking about this subject its hard for us to say what is go and what is no go.

Sadly there is no one on this forum who has info about this subject and who deals with stuff like this on a daily basis.

Please note that link i provided has been updated as of THIS year.

It's too bad they never sold the Skyline in the US. When I lived in Australia I
saw them quite a bit. They're a lot more impressive in person than they
are in Gran Turismo (all though they do kick *** there too).

are you talking about the Autoplus R34? it was converted in the US by Skyline Motors LLC then it was shipped back to Manila for the JUN engine and its performance. Needless to say, the LHD dashboard was a carbon copy of the original RHD, excerpt the MFD was sunk a little bit, but the tilt to the driver is perfect. The RHD firewall was taken out and an except LHD firewall was fabricated. It is a perfect conversion and it can withstand the present 1000whp set-up. You may now be wondering why convert a RHD Skyline to LHD? because Philippine road laws ban RHD cars. So we had to bite the bullet and convert it to LHD. At least we dont have any strict DOT laws etc here, only that.

1100hp @ 2.3bar boost
700hp @ 1.5bar pump gas 95 octane (no alky or nitrous)
The GT-R is now being used for street funruns. So imagine a GT-R putting down 700+whp at only 1.5bar pump gas on our streets. There is an upcoming race a few months from now and it will be running there. Predictions says it will be at the high 8s category. According to Mr. Go, nothing beats driving that Skyline on the road. Getting used to the clutch is not that bad.
