Considering a new EVO MR can cost upwards of 35K and a C6 Z06 is at least 65K it was a bargain despite it's age. Toyota Supras are built like granite and very reliable. It's the 6-speeds that command the higher prices and the hardtops even more. You can easily get an Auto TT with low miles in good shape for mid to low 20s or even cheaper. 98s generally command more than previous years, and in my opinion are not cost effective because the Supra changed very little over the years.

It's like any rare car, do your research, bide your time and be ready to pounce on a deal. You can get what you want at the price that you can afford.

Wow.

You found yourself a great deal on the Supra.

I myself was looking at buying a TT Supra a year ago when I finally decided on an Evo.

I was searching left and right for Supras and for you to get a 95 6-speed with only 45k miles and basic mods is hard to believe.

I've seen near stock 93-95 models sell for $30k+.

You better have $35k + for any low-mileage 97-98 Supras with less than 50k miles (my favorite year Supras: 3-spoke steering wheel and revised head and taillights).

I wouldn't spend that much for a used car unless I had a lot of disposable cash on my hands.

One of my main points was that to buy the Supra I would have to pay the entire price outright or finance the car (not that practical; rates are pretty high), whereas I got 0% on my 05 Evo.

Also......

Reliable as Toyotas and Supras can be; it's still a 8-13 year old car.

It would be reliable for a used car but honestly a modified well maintained Evo would be just pretty reliable too.

Zo6 is a mid-life crisis car IMO. I DEFINITELY respect the car's performance, but it's a car that I see late 40-50yrs olds driving. So at this point in my life no...

Supra>> jury is still out :P

From what I see.....

C5s and C6s 90% I see are mid-life crisis type of guys.

C5 Z06 mostly younger men (up to 35 years old).

C6 Z06 doesn't matter who drives it; it's still fast in any gear .

C6 Z06 is also my attainable dream car.

If your that close to paying off the EVO I would keep it as a daily driver. Then get a "fun" car that you can build up how you want. That way you can have it down for awhile and still get around, as well as have somting to drive in sloppy weather.

Now, the Supra is my dream car. To this day i think its the best patform to build on (03-04 Mustang Cobra is a close 2nd). plus I think the Supra is going to be the hemi Cuda of our generation down the road. The C5 ZO6 is a badass car as well and I would love to own one. I just saw one driving past my work yesterday. It wa a black one and it looked sooo good, and sounded better.

Whatever you do i would say some serious test drives are in order

I don't have the money to have two... maybe in 3-4 years. I have driven a zo6 and I love the powerband, especially around town. No lag at all your always in power, it felt very well balanced and I really wanted to get it on a road course.

Tonight I was cleaning out my car in preparation of taking it to some dealerships tommorrow to see what I can get for it, damn near started crying. I still don't know what I want.

No Evo here, but if I had one I would never trade it for either of them.

The Evo does everything perfectly. It accelerates, brakes, handles, has awd for all-season fun, a manual transmission to heighten the driving experience, has the practicality of 4 doors and room for people in the back seat, a reasonable trunk, excellent seats, and a good warranty.

I won't forget to mention that it's also cheaper to mod than either a Z06 or a Supra.

I have a great respect for the Z06. It rolls with the best of'em (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, etc.) but it's a "fair weather only" car.

As for the Supra, I can respect the insane amounts of horsepower they can make, but my fondness for them ends there.

Blue C6 Z06 anyday.

RSP or Anthracite Supra TT with less than 30k miles - No second thought. Prob even one with a littttttle higher mileage, but it HAS to be stock and never modded.

+1.

this reasoning is why i can never see myself giving up my Evo for another car....any other car would have to be in addition to the Evo.

good luck to the OP. i guess if u really have to do it, go for the z06. it has great v8 low end torque, and capable of mad power with TT kit, and handles better than the Supra.

I was considering getting the supra TT when shopping for my EVO. I dont want to spend over $3oK for a high mileage used car so the Supra was out of the list.
Plus I'm settling down so I need the 2 extra doors.
