2008 Viper 600hp
the vette you guys are talking about (blue devil) is going to be called the corvette SS.It will be released as an 08 model. And yes its gonna have a supercharged zo6 motor and making 650hp. Around 100k!
once again hes proven that the evo is an invincible car and no other cars on the rd can catch up to it.
off the line, straight way, or canyon run. maybe there are 1 or 2 evos that can do that but i doubt that if u car can do that. dont get me wrong, i love both cars even though i dont own either one. nothing more satisfying than seeing a 4 banger beating the snot out of a car similar to the viper but get real here. the viper looks better in blue w/ white stripes IMO.
Kinda....Chevy hasn't decided on a name yet, but SS is definately floating around. The engine will be the new supercharged LS9 which is 6.2L whereas the LS7 in the Z06 is 7.0L.
It may be called the Z07, or the name,"Stingray," may pop up once again. Whatever it's called, it's going to wipe the floor with whatever Dodge puts out. Don't expect to see the "Blue Devil" until after the next Dodge debuts. GM would be wise to wait until the Viper drops first before putting the "Blue Devil" into production.
i dont know about everyone else but i think american cars are a joke they talk about the hp's but honestly who couldnt get 500hp out of a 7.0lt or 600hp out of a 8.4lt. any imports whether european or japanese would easily make over 800hp with that displacement. it just shows how pathetic gm and dodge realy are, and im sick of these american magazines kissing *** and not telling how these cars realy compare to the imports.

600hp out of 8.3 liters is not all that impressive to me. I'm sure it make god like torque but, come on.
I used to love the Viper when I was 13. Now I'm just not really digging it. I know they changed the body a few years back but, it still looks dated to me. The interior reminds me of the last body style Supra... a sea of black plastic stretching as far as the eye can see. Not what I would want for $80K.

I should stop your pathetic argument there, but I'm all for educating people.
This is of little importance. WHO CARES about who could or could not get 600hp -- the question is - which automaker OFFERS a 600hp sports car for $90,000? Honda? Nope. Toyota? Nope. Mitsu? Nope. Subaru? Nope. BMW? Nope. Mercedes? Nope. Porsche? Nope. I could go through all of them, but you get the point.
That is AWESOME speculation, now let me know when I can buy a Euro/Japanese sports car with 800hp for $90,000.
Yep. Offering cars with incredible performance for a low cost is PATHETIC with a capital "P"
The HP per liter argument is nothing but ricer talk unless you run in a racing series that limits displacement (F1, Top Fuel, etc). Only young children coming off a Fast and the Furious high subscribe to the HP/Liter > all mentality.
Personally, I wouldn't care if Dodge put in a 16.0L V12 that "only" made 700hp -- why would it matter?

I guess a 20 year old 2.0L motor is the best motor in the world.
Remember, performance is all about hp per liter!
The "redneck theory" is right, there is no replacement for displacement!
Please tell me you are kidding. The current 510hp Viper BLOWS the doors off the M5 or M6. I'll refer you to Car and Driver's lightning lap around VIR:Ford GT, 3:00.7
Chevrolet Corvette Z06, 3:01.1
Dodge Viper SRT-10 Coupe, 3:01.6
Lotus Elise (US spec), 3:09.2
Chevrolet Corvette C6, 3:09.3
Porsche Cayman S, 3:09.5
BMW M6, 3:10.0
Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, 3:11.0
Nissan 350Z Track, 3:12.5
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX MR, 3:13.5
Dodge Charger SRT-8, 3:18.2
Mazda RX-8, 3:19.0
Chevrolet Cobalt SS, 3:20.6
Ford Mustang GT, 3:20.9
Volkswagen GTI, 3:25.1
Honda Civic Si, 3:26.5
Mazda MX-5, 3:29.3
The Viper does indeed blow the doors off the $100,000 M6....it's not even close. Now imagine the Viper with 600hp -- it would be like comparing a Prius and EVO
As long as mankind still inhabits Earth, GM will in business for the Super Vette
