2008 Viper 600hp
You're right, Haskell. Ignorance sure is bliss. He's pretty blissful, isn't he? I find it quite amusing how we get some of these "misinformed" fellows on EvoM who seem to think that domestic cars suck, when the domestics are dominating right now in the "super-exotic" performance areas. We have the Mosler MT900, Corvette Z06, Dodge Viper, Saleen S7, Ford GT, Panoz, and there's also a new domestic company soon to be releasing another hyper-exotic, the SCC Ultimate Aero, which is going to be capable of speeds up to 273 mph.
I guess a 20 year old 2.0L motor is the best motor in the world.
Remember, performance is all about hp per liter!
The "redneck theory" is right, there is no replacement for displacement!

An Evo is what it is but please let's be realistic and don't go and bend your car because you want to beat the snort out of a Z06
apparently u missed what i was saying because not once did i even mention the evo. i think the evo is a great car but it in know way is perfect. what i was tryin to say was look at the sizes of these engines. not to mention the cheap craftsmenship of these vehicles. my inlaws have 2 vettes. a c5 and a c6, both have the interior of a miata. the transmission is feels like they had some left over parts they put in it just to get in the way. and the ride is worse then my evo. plus the new z06 has a roof the peels off at highway speeds. yeah 70 grand is cheap but its for a reason. why didnt you just get a c5 z06 if there so great i mean you can get one for the same price as a evo.

That happened to how many cars? 2 maybe? Don't act like other cars don't have problems -- Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo -- they all have problems.

The interior of my Evo reminds me of my Mums 1977 Datsun 180K. But I bought one anyways for a reason ---> sometimes it's not all about just the interior but a sum of all of the parts.
Granted, a nice interior definitely adds to the appeal of driving a vehicle, but it's not the main reason I buy one. No, I don't want to hit a bump and have screws falling out of the dashboard, but you know.....
+1. For some reason, 75% of EvoM seems to think that the STi's/STI's interior is better than that of the Evo's. I've spent a lot of time in both cars, and while the STi's/STI's interior is more appealing to the eye, I don't find the quality to be any better.

I'm going to start building a Factory Five Cobra replica real soon and Man if you want to talk about a crappy interior that is the taker
BUT with the LT1 engine I have planned for it I won't have too much time to worry about how the interior looks like. And neither will the passengers
Agreed..I see them on the street and the old ones remind of Ace and Gary riding that ***** thing from the SNL skits and I start laughing. I just can't say the new ones are any better just looks kinda like a corvette with a vent hood..and a crap load of HP. oh well thats my .02
Yep

With an LS1, you would have the advantages of oil starvation, as well as bent rods when you botch shifts.
Not to mention, the LS1 is hand-built by God (according to the misinformed LS1 owners)!Just make sure when you install the LT1 that the optispark will be easy to get to. You'll go through one about every 4 years or 60,000 miles. But, don't fret, you'll have hardened pushrods and won't suffer from oil starvation!

My wife and I are thinking about getting a kit. I'm seriously looking into the '65 Daytona. I really like'em. I wouldn't use a Mustang donor because I don't want a fancy Mustang. If I build that type of car I want the independent rear suspension, a great set of brakes, suspension, etc.
As for the interior of the FF5 cars being crappy, you get out of them what you put into them. I've seen some kits at local SCCA events that have been done up very nicely, and then I've seen others that are bare-bones.
I'll take my '65 Daytona with a supercharged 351W.
I had a 95 Trans AM and I loved the easy of tune and IMHO the bullet proof drivetrain. I beat the crap out of that car for 80k miles and it never broke - not even once.
Sure there are better engines out there but I am more familiar with the LT1 and they are plentiful.
I know what you are saying about getting what you put into them. To me it's a cost factor. I don't want it to turn into a $50k weekend toy when there are other worthy cars to be had for $50k and won't be kit cars.

LS1 > LT1 -- oil starvation is only a problem for people seeing sustained high g's(road racers seeing 1g+ for long periods of time) and for those people an oil accumulator is only $100. I’ve never known anyone to bend a pushrod even with miss-shifts – besides a set of pushrods is only about $100 and you can do them while you replace the cam and make an easy 410rwhp+. J
If you look at people doing swaps, the LS1 probably out numbers the LT1 50 to 1.

i would go for the extra money and get the LS-1. I had an 01 Camaro SS and lightely modded,(cold air intake, cat back exhaust, etc.) it was a screamer. I traded it in for the 03 8 and was much more satisfied with the evo.
