yea, definatly not 300mph . that car will NOT hit 300 ever, nor would your tires even remotly hold up.

Go watch the TopGear video with the veyron and see how much it takes to hit 253mph in a production car . [ a ****in lot ]

300 km/h = 200mph.

BTW stock Z06 tops out at 198mph.

What is like 320km/h = 200 I know I saw a car vid that showed a skyline hitting 200mph and I thought it was 300 maybe it was 320?

with the concern to the subject title of this thread i decided that maybe the question should be rearranged to more clarify the the potiency of the new Z06, in terms of price, availability, drivability, performance, and innovations, what other cars are available for production tthat top the Z06?

none.

For 80k I'd rather be driving a German.

80K????

07 2LZ coming.....73k.

I love German cars also ( I know great quality) and my dad has had a fare share of them over the years. 2 P cars and 3-4 MB's but we are looking for performance that no German car can provide for
73k. At least in stock form thats for sure.

We drove a 911S before winter set in and we loved the car for many reasons but way to slow for what we are looking for plus it was like 87k.

Plus I love the sound of a V8.

sure.. you can spend 80K on the german car, but your going to disapear in the rearview mirror. I had the same thoughts, but unless I could buy a ferrari, I would just stick with something that was just as fast at least. The evo can give the 911s a good run for the money.. to pay 17K more then the z06 is ludicrous.

200 mph = 321.868 km/h
198 mph = 318.650 km/h

Yeah. There isint a German car for remotely the same cash that performs as well. If you were all about the performance C6 Zo6. If you wanted good performance, and some luxury and had a little extra cash to spend M5 Coupe.

HP/L is a meaningless number that people (mostly fans of small displacement cars) have just made up as if it signifies how "good" and engine is. It really has very little meaning what-so-ever from a performance, design, and analysis point of view. Engine power just flat out does not correlate very well with displacement when your talking about higher performance engines and really has nothing to do with efficiency.

Two things that DO tend to correlate are HP/ total piston area and Tq/displacement (aka BMEP, sorta). Another factor is average piston speed, but most top engines have piston speeds that are relatively high.

For a relatively simple engine (no VVT, no variable intakes, etc) the Zo6 engine does very well.

Why doesnt GM make a high tech lower displacement high HP engine? Cost may be one factor, the other is that typical corvette owners want big engines. Period.

I'm not arguing that the Z06 doesn't outperform everything under $120k-$150k, but for the money I don't care if my M5 gets blown away by the Corvette. It doesn't bother me that I'd get blown away now. You're never going to have the fastest car on the road (well, unless you're Bill Gates), so at a certain point, speed and performance just isn't everything. If I'm laying down that much money I'm sure as hell not driving an American car.
