Remind of me the idea that this is or is not a Evo vs. Z06 discussion?

Regardless and to discuss THIS thread I feel the Z06 is a wonderful design and good engineering move by Chevy. The new Z06 boasts a ton of handling goodies followed by some American flare. I'm glad some US based company did it.

As far as how fast can it go ... well ... let's wait and see. I'm curious how some of the racing companies that switched over from the Porsches to the 'Vettes are going to fair on the road circuits this year.

Exciting times,

~j.

what does HP/L do for you at the track when you're getting spanked? lol....NOTHING.....it's like a ricer justifying his slaughter by saying "oh yea, at least I have more HP/L"

No I havent. I also dont see an bunch of them on road courses either. Too heavy. They are great for bike drag racing, great for freeway pulls, but just oo big of a bike for 90% of the riders out there.

Id rather have a a bike with smaller CC's and is lighter because it would be just fun to toss around.

wouldn't a smaller engine making the same power equal a more hp/lb? that equates to some performance at the track. i'm just saying that i think GM could've gotten the same power out of a smaller engine if they tried.

i don't see many teenage boy racers driving around evos unless their parents bought it for them, and that equates to a small percentage of owners as a whole. there's probrably just as many rich kids driving around in vettes.

Again no there isint. Thats why insurance is so low for the Corvette. Its primarily owned by people who could afford the cost of owning the car, and thus more responsible.

And why would GM need to use a smaller engine? They have a corvette. and soon to have another Camaro. Why would they want or need to build a Cavalier sports car when they have two cars in the lineup with the proper amount of cylinders

i'm not saying drop the V8, just use less displacement than 7 liters. and isn't the camaro supposed to drop to 4 cylinders under low-load situations or was that a rumor?

from driving a customer's 07 z06 with and without torque management...I would buy one and be quite happy with a reflash for quite some time (unitl the warranty died)...they have a suprisingly nice ride quality too.

those C6Z06 are nice car, and dont mess around with them at higher speed. I was following one on a highway last october and by the way he pull away from me at 80mph i know i m at no match at higher speed.... (we are not racing, i did not even floor my car to follow, the Z06 just accelerate to over take other cars in front of us.)

First off Jasil is correct on 6's, 7's pretty much track only cars except the Vette Doctors 7 sec Sick a**car that he drives to the shop most nice dayLOL. Most 8's 9's and 10 second Z's are FI cars but not always. There are a tons of mods out there for C-5 and now C-6. One thing I know for sure for every one 10 or even lower 9 sec Evo out there are a 100 10 sec Vettes and probably 500 Mustangs it is not that uncommon for RWD American cars to run those #'s.

06 and 07 stock Z06's run anywhere from a 12sec @ 120mph ( bad driver ) to a best so far of 10:85 @ 129.85mph with only DR"S on that car. Great driver.

With light bolt on's they get into the high to mid 10's @ 130 - 133mph so far.

One guy MYHardtop on the Vette forums has some light mods CIA, LT headers, tune, not sure on a cam and 100 dry shot on DR's he ran a 9"87 @ 142mph and he said he had a bad 60ft.

I have a Blk on Blk 07 coming last week of March or the first of April. I plan on doing some upgrades. I have talked to a lot of shops and guys on the Vette Forums so I kinda have a plan.

BTW I will keep the AMS built EVO and see what she can do at the track. Should run well since it is the same as Dans old 37r set up only with the new AMS twin fuel rail system.

I will do a comparision starting from when the Z06 is stock to when I begin to throw mods on it and see how it stacks up against the Evo on 93 oct - 100 and C-16 I'll do all kinds of comparisions and see what happens. Should be fun

I will keep everyone posted:

mike, you are sneaky sneaky.

Hey whats up!

I haven't said to much on local sites about the Z06 coming. Thought I'd wait till it gets hear first week of April. Only told a couple of people.

Yeh my dads been waiting on the Z 06 since they first came out but wasn't willing to pay over MSRP ( doesn't beleive in it). He finally got a local dealer to get one for him, but as you know my dads cool and we do our car projects together just like on the Evo. Heck he's the one that pushed me to go as far as we did on the Evo we have from AMS.

I have to admit I'm getting excided about the Z06. He is already talking to all kinds of Tuner shops lol. You know it won't stay stock for long

Sorry to go off topic guys.

The "my modded evo is just as good as paying 80K for a z06" arguments are all put to rest by this.. there is clearly no comparison. He damn near hits 300mph!

over speed warning lol!

"edit" thats km/h.. forgot he was in saudi arabia
