Anyone have a Pontiac GTO?
From what I understand, the 6.0 is kind of like a bored and stroked 5.7, which means its going to have less meat left in the block and possibly not quite as strong. Internals for the 5.7 are a good but cheaper from what I have heard so building it for FI turns out to be more economical then with the 6.0. And once you strap on two GT35's (for instance) you aren't going to miss .3L of displacement, but will appreciate the possible extra strength.
it is a different crank and rod combo. 383 versus 350ci. you can have the same piston size.
6.0in rod versus a 5.7in rod. the crank angle/or throw is 3.75 versus 3.48 stroke

my friend just ordered the APS twin turbo kit for a 6.0 GTO
should make 500+ to the wheels... should be sick!
stock from a high roll he's not very far behind me... theyre crazy on the highway.
from down low i own... for now lol
i dont think he has any problems with it, hasn't been down since i've known him. he's had a few cars before and he's super happy with the GTO
good luck!

I have a 04 GTO automatic (decided to try auto out after 4 stick shift cars including an evo)...
Full tank on premium at about 2.99 is around $45. It can last me about 4-6 days. In Los Angeles, i spent about $20 A DAY. Car is comfortable and has a great interior. Very nice cruiser. Only lacks sunroof/navigation option. Besides that, no complaints here so far. No front strut problem, im sittin on 20s by the way. The car looks great, i get about 13-16mpg on street and about 17-22 on highway tho. The 6speed gets better MPG tho. Nice low end tq as well, easily loses traction when i floor it

But we have a local shop AZPOWERandSOUND and the owner used to have a 2002 Camaro SS. He made something like 420rwhp all motor on the 5.7 liter, and had a 200 shot on top of that. The car was gorgeous. Now he has C6 and it makes something like 460-480 rwhp all motor.
The powerband on an all motor V8 making hp and torque numbers like that is unbelievable, and you can actually get decent gas mileage, because you dont need to hammer it everytime you leave the light to feel a rush like you do in an Evo. Having 400+ lb ft of tq at the wheels at like 2000 rpms is an amazing thing
I sold mine for an EVO. Loved it with no issues...cammed and stall ran low low 12s. 375 to the wheels. However, 12mpg and no traction in the rain made it unpractical for a daily driver with kids. Now I have a high 12 AWD, great on gas boosting machine. Two totally different cars but both appreciated by true enthusiasts. Oh and no strut-rub problems.
I had one (2005 LS2 GTO), traded it for an EVO 9
about a week ago....
Its a very nice car, however, seating position is not that great, you will sit way high, except if you recline the seat way too much for my teast... the drivetrain is a bit of a POS, too much vibration ... no traction ... and yeay it rattles ... beside that its all good ... ohhh yeah its heavy

I, too, was considering the GTO before buying my Evo. This was back in 2003 before the GTO was released. Though I never drove one, the practicality of the four door, functional trunk Evo made the decision easier. The Evo is a car you can grow in to mostly because it handles better, compliments of the AWD. I'm not trying to take anything away from the GTO, but the Evo is simply a more versatile vehicle...unless you're only in to going fast in a straight line.
The GTO would sell better if it were left under its original Holden name. Enthusiasts, including myself, expected more from Pontiac when they finally re-introduced the GTO after so many years. You can't just take a Holden, rebadge it, and expect the muscle car enthusiasts in America to scoop it up like it's the next hot thing. That's the simple reason why they are barely selling. You should be able to swing a good deal on it, though.

I really like the newer gto. I test drove one unfortunately it was an automatic. But it did feel like a very solid car. Only thing I didn't like is it felt heavy and I believe it is a bit heavy compared to the evo. I wouldn't mind having a gto as a daily driver. Very comfortable fun car. And i'm sure the ls1 and ls2 is a rock solid motor.

Airbag never deploy????
