FS Feeler: '03 Evo 8
So its time to start being more responsible so I'm thinking about selling the Evo and getting something a little more luxurious.
First off here's some details on the car:
2003 Evo 8
Stock clutch (still grips like day 1)
TRE built TC
Other mods in my signature except the JICs which have since been removed for the stock suspension because the JICs are in need of a serious rebuild.
I also have aftermarket wheels, and a set of NTO+3s 18x9.5 in Silver with spacers (These were for take-off slicks for the track)
~50k miles
Alpine CDA-9835 with Ipod connector, JL 12w3v2 sub, JL Audio VR-650CSi components and VR-650CXi coaxials, w/ JL Audio e4300 amplifier. The subwoofer is powered by a JL Audio e1400D mono amp. These are all in a custom build that you can see here:




The Ipod hookup goes into the Glovebox.
I also have a recently installed Defi BF Imperial boost gauge in Amber mounted on the steering wheel column and a Defi VSD Concept II HUD w/ Oil Pressure sensor mounted on the front above the steering wheel. The control unit for both is mounted in the little cubby under the climate controls, as well as the subwoofer range knob.
How much do you think I can ask for it? Again, this is just a feeler and I'm just thinking about it (unless someone offers as much as I would really want but that won't happen). Also, I may or may not even be selling it depending on many different things (I love my Evo and I'd hate to let her go, I just want something a little more civil since I don't think I'll be doing any more track racing anymore).
The reason this is in Other Cars is because I want to know what you guys would get to replace the Evo too? I'm between two main things right now: a used Carrera 4 or a new Infiniti G35x. It doesn't have to be a sedan, but obviously coming from an Evo I still want it to be quick and nimble.

AWD is fairly important since I'm here in Utah and this will be my daily driver... So is trying to keep it under or around 50k

I didn't say it had to be new (which broadens the playing field a bit more than needing luck)
but thanks for the luck anyway... Driven a 328, a4, s4, s40 t5... none of those are my taste. S4 is fast enough but feels like it weighs 100000 lbs, at least the used one I drove did, otherwise the rest are too slow, except a the two I haven't driven which may be alright. Around 50k is the key, not under, under limits me on the Carreras but I've found plenty Carrera 4s for about 40-55k... And some around 80k

Bump: I finally drove a '07 G35x today, so my mind is made up... If it comes down to selling the Evo then that's what I"m going for...

Yeah, me too, but the one I found is an automatic '02 with 38,000 miles on it for 38800... And it only has 300 hp and teenie tiny rear seats... Sure, its a Porsche, and I love Porsche, and someday I will have one, but it just doesn't make sense right now.

Are you getting the G35x sedan or coupe? The AWD obviously makes it the heaviest model, about a 250-300 lbs lighter than the S4 though. Good choice though, G35s are kind of sleeper cars, Porsche drivers can get a bad rep and get the porcupine joke a lot. A wouldn't mind a Porsche as a weekend driver third car, but not for DD.
As for your asking price I don't really know. How's the market for used Evos in UT? On eBay with Evos with about that many miles are selling between $17-20k. So maybe start yours out at $19k?

The market in Utah is definitly better than that, trade in low is at 19k. KBB retail is 25,500ish. If I do decide to sell it it isn't super important

What's the porcupine joke? Never heard it... And this is all still pending events coming in the next month or so. My main things that need clearing up right now: Insurance cheaper or the same? How much will tax, title, and licensing be? And then whether my wheels will fit (so far everyone says they will but I'd like to be sure)... All those answers will come in the next few months. Once I get more organized and decide for sure if I'm letting the Evo go.

Anyway guys, with lack of response on both EvoM and G35driver, and a total 50/50 split decision in my mind I'm going to wait and see how the next month or so turn out (In case anyone cares, I'm graduating college in May... The main reason for wanting to go with the G35x over the Evo is just daily driver niceity, I don't know how much time I'll have for tracking the Evo [or money anymore..] so I'm thinking maybe its time to up to the luxury sports sedan class.). So thanks for the advice so far! Any other comments are welcome.
