In his defense though.. the evo makes you drive fast, it just feels easy and you will not be able to get away with that kind of driving in wet conditions at other cars... stick tires on the evo wear fast.. they are expensive, not always changed right away... no tread on awd hurts.. not saying this was the cause but it seems like the awd can lead to a bit of over confidence and then something bad happens the minute your attention is diverted for even a second. Accidents happen, but people learn from them.
I'm going to have to disagree with this statement. I don't think that any car MAKES you go fast. It's all in the drivers self control and obviously he needs to work on that.
As for my opinion on a new car.... If I were in your shoes, I would go with a lexus IS250 AWD... fun sporty car with little temptaion to go "Fast".
