2008 Toyota Supra Rumors (MERGE)
I reckon the new Supra should have a modified verson of the 3GZ-FE. 5L's of Toyota V12 power!
I'm just hoping is has a decent enough chassis to compete with the GT-R. Also, the way the GT-R's going, I don't think they'd only produce it in NA form. They'd naturally want something to be competitive with the GT-R in terms of engine performance and I don't think they can do it with an NA.
Then, Haven't alot of the top US drag teams been toying with the new Toyota 4L V6? (not sure what it's called but it's used in the new Hilux).

Some of you are forgetting the bigger picture, toyota is only thinking about doing this because the 350z is selling well.
Toyota dosent make cars just to make cars, they make cars FOR PROFIT. Toyota motto has always been if it dont make dollars it dont make sense.
Thus the reason the celica is dead, it didnt sell. Now before you even think about a supra made to compete with the GTR you have to see if the regular supra is even selling because if it is not they will mos def not make a model to compete with the GTR.
Toyota is on their way to becoming the #1 automaker, I seriously doubt they care about what a few sports car fanatics think of them as long as the camry keeps selling like gas.

As long as that power/weight ratio holds up as promised, I'm pretty sure I'm making the switch to Supra in 2008. I'll wait for the 1st reviews however....and I thought I was going to hold on to the Evo forever too!
To compete with the Z, I think Toyota might offer the Supra in similar trims as the Z... an entry level, GT, and track model. Of course, all the hardcore people would probably shell out the extra $6-$7K for a "track" model, I know I will if the extra equipment is worth it.
