Thumbs up SE-R spec V

Test drove the SE-R spec V yesterday.... Damn... the kid at the dealership let me burn off some of its tires. Wish the lancer handled like that!

The SE-R is errr.....ugly. The Lancer handles fine for what its equipped with. It needs the same suspension modifications the SE-R would need to perform better.

Nah, The SeR is a great car, I only test drove the SeR not the Spec V and I was very VERY impressed, but with the huge dealer mark-up its just isnt worth it

ok??

I think the SE-R's a great car for the $$$

If it had been out at the time when I was buying a new car....I would've bought in a second.

It's a bit rough around the edges, but the Spec-V is alright. I had to give one a beat down the other day though.

ok old thread, but I was looking for SE-R threads )
you know, in Canada the Lancer OZ-Rally is $19997, and the Nissan SE-R is $19998, basically for $1 you have a 2.5L engine, 165hp, 4 discs brake

I bought A Spec V back in Feb., one of the first onwers of them in the US. And I have to say for the money your get the biggest bang for your buck. I am very happy with it, a few mods. and I'll be over 200 hp. And for 17K your not going to find another car like it, the Civic EX coupe didn't even come close. And verist just for your info the WRX is faster than a Spec V, but the handling is ****. the autocross I run at with my car the guys that own WRX's have been racing for years and their handling can't keep up with my car.

Just after I bought my lancer I found out that the Nissan dealer down the street had a SE-R Spec V for 17499. I paid like 17600 for my lancer. Damn Oh well I still like my Lancer.

Yeha but the ragular lancers are lacking the all important thing COJONES, they have very little power. And against an RSX Type S I have no problem getting away from them.

EvoHunta, I would not go so far as to say that a SPEC-V is a better handler across the board.. I also race SCCA Solo, and I will give a big thumbs up to the SPEC-V in low speed, tightly arranged courses. But you are comparing apples to oranges, the WRX with it's higher center of gravity and suspesion travel was designed to perform in all conditions. In real world driving and overall driver satisfaction a FWD car is not going to do it for me or the majority of enthusiasts out there, I don't care what the skid-pad numbers tell you.

I think that the SE-R hating in here is jealousy... simply put, I got my lancer for around 13K, and the SE-R base in my area was 19K. For that price, I could have gotten a V6 Eclipse or something... more likely or something. But, that's not to say that SE-R is not an impressive vehicle or a good value. I just thought that the Lancer was a better value, and still do. Oh, and I'm kind of sick of hearing about the all wheel disc brakes.... really, with the power EITHER of these cars are putting out, they aren't necessary. They are more conveinient, and better looking, but, for the extra scratch... eh, I really don't care. I'll just get my porterfields, and maybe replace the rotors, and call it a day.
