why are you selling you evo for a bmw???
I bought the Evo because its fast, reliable and practical.
But I'm not selling my Evo to get an BMW. I'm keeping my Evo and getting another car, something with more class.
Kind of like rolling monday through friday in the BMW picking up the gold digging women, and weekends bring out the Evo and pickup the adventurous kind.
You don't have to sell one to get the other, get the best of both worlds.
15k left to pay on the Evo! I'm 24 years young, and I plan on getting a BMW or something more "luxurious and classy" when I'm around 30ish.
Hey, good analogy on the suit and tie, and the cutoff shorts and hawaii t-shirt. But I think its more or less:
Evo = Chuck Norris
BMW = James Bond
LOL.

Huh?
The first 4 years 50K miles on a BMW maintenance is free. Which is kind of a joke because my wife's car says it can 1 year or 24K miles which ever come first until it needs service which is basically just an oil change. My car says to go 15K miles but, I still change the oil every 7,500 miles.
VANOS would be under warranty still if you bought CPO, isn't really much of a problem and from what i recall the Evo was not exactly cheap to maintain well. So, I really don't get your logic but, whatever.

I was just stating my experience when buying my EVO. I was going to buy a 330 ZHP from a private owner so it wouldn't be under warranty. I was just going off of people that I know that own BMW's and asking how much it was to maintain. Logic, who needs logic... WHATEVER. Thats funny, your funny.
Would you care if you Evo was a 10mpg car in city?, I know the Evo gets better gas mileage than that but I was giving you an example, the BMW gets much better gas mileage than the Evo.
Would you care if your insurance was very high because is a Evo?, would you like a car that has 4 years fully covered warranty(belts, fluids, rotors, pads)? how about retail value? or quality of built? or equipment(HID lights, I-pod conection,moonroof,run flats with sensors, etc, etc) and the list goes on.
Because I know you never bother to go to a BMW dealer to even test drive one nor bother to really look at the real differences that is why I think one more time that you are missinformed.
For the price the 135i sells it is one of the best cars around, the Evo is also. Perhaps the Evo used to be and still is one of the favorites car for the bang, now the 135i shares that sucess as well.

Seriously though, short of something like a used E60 M5 pretty much any BMW is going to be right around the same cost probably a bit cheaper than an Evo to maintain.
When things break the BMW might be a bit more money to repair but, for the most part they are built to run for a long time.
the BMW does not get better gas mileage than the evo, the owner of the BMW say he gets around 22mph which is what the X gets. Evo is cheaper to mod and has I-pod connection which you obviously didn't know it even has bluetooth ready in the X. Yaw control is another reason why Evo is better bang for the buck. Quality, shoot the X drives like butter and is as quiet as a luxuary car I was supprised how quiet it is. BMW is very nice, but in my opinion the X is still the better package for the money.
I really dion't know what criteria you use to determine that the Evo is the best bang for the buck... I guess you bypass many other aspects that you don't seem to even look when comparing two cars.

I am lucky enough to own both cars...there is no significant difference in mpg -less than 1mpg. Also, a new bmw comes with total mtc. No need to worry about cost! however, to say that one is better than the other is just nonsense. Both driving experiences are very unique but outside of the 20-30 age bracket these cars are rarely cross shopped-even the 135. There are lots of porsche's and audi's in the used lots, but I don't see many Evo/Sti trades.

BMWs are built well mechanically, but not electronically. There are program glitches out the yin-yang. There are so many cars that get towed in everyday, and its because a module dies and interrupts the bus system, or just needs to be completely re-programmed from the bottom up. We get progman (BMW programming software) updates very often.
Both BMW and mercedes have a mobile assisstance program, which you can say thats a good customer program (which it is) but its also to keep dead babies to be seen all over town.
I wouldnt trade my evo for one. Four years of free maintenance....15k mile intervals for an oil change? Because they use 2X the normal amount of oil to get dirty. When you do have to pocket that, depending on your model its gonna be 7 or 9 quarts of fully sythetic oil. Its rare to have a customer pay visit and they skate out without paying at least a $G.

I'm glad you have a good sense of humor about things. Some people would have got all but hurt and tried to start an argument over that.

people buy bmws to get stranded on the side of the road and get raped at the dealers for repairs. oh, and to impress people who don't give an f about them. and chicks. nice cars but as a mechanic, i see them in a different light. my family has owned about 5 of them. i keep telling my mom they are garbage, but to each their own.
Ok ok ok... so from what I can tell so far there are 3 groups....
1.Those who are getting the bimmer because they "have to" for having clients (who suck) in their car or not looking responsible around people (who suck) but are still keeping their evo because they use it to its potential and enjoy it for the reasons it was created.
2.People [Idiots] that think bmw wants to be hungry to eat your **** because you buy one of their low end cars (they don't) and will offer better service (the don't) for a car that performs better at highway speeds (it doesn't) and is more enjoyable on the street (it isn't) because they can't push their cars to the limit on the street (why did you buy a race car?) and really just want a Geo Metro with a nice interior [according to car and driver] and a M badge on it who made a mistake in buying an evo because they hadn't had their performance cherry popped and thought they would be the riciest, coolest "kids" in town
3. People who never knew the potential of their evo in the first place because they bought it for the wing and their friend told them that the new x35 was so l33t.
Go M [and still not have quite as much fun], keep your evo, or go home. If you purchased this car without any clue [I'm sorry] it will be pretty unlikely for it to live up to your [foolish] standards and you'll probably never enjoy it like it should be enjoyed.... and that's ok, just do your best to erase that part of life from your memory when you were a total poseur.
PS. Money for maintenance is built into the cost of the BMW and I have never seen worse service and salesmanship than at a BMW dealership. If you want to feel like a brokeass-needs-a-shower hobo after buying a $35k car and being loyal for 5 years of service and 2 other car purchases go dump your money at bmw and watch them try to sell you a car for $1k over sticker. Then when they still don't cover you for warranty and void your service agreement unless you buy their $5k exhaust or $1k intake [air filter] laugh your way all the way back to your slow mildly comfortable car.
