A lot of people are growing up and need a car that better fits a professional. It's not always good to pull up to potential clients with a 10 inch high wing... Unless you are an ad exec and your client is Mountain Dew. And some people feel the need for a little more luxury. As awesome as we all think the Evo is, and as much as we feel it's the only car worth driving, a large part of the adult world simply doesn't subscribe...
Also, BMW is sick.

well said.
Wouldn't you feel a little bit worried if your lawyer, who was going to represent you and defend you in court, showed up wearing cut-off shorts and a hawaiian shirt with flip-flops?
Same kind of deal -- sort of.

It's not about judging your ability based on the car. Think of having the right car for the job as wearing the right suit for the job.

i get where you are coming from but its still poor logic.
if i drive an evo, a bmw or a POS beater, it doesnt negate any of my accomplishments.
i never understood the "image" thing....

Plus BMW has a great service plan and the introduction of the 135 and 335 are great "adult" options for high performance cars.
I went with the evo because its more reliable in all the day to do driving that you would do throughout the year, especially being in ohio... the car is made to perform in extreme weather conditions. If your scared of not looking professional enough you could always take off the decals or heaven forbid the wing. That would add a few years maybe, and be less of a target for the fuzz. Of course not all Business guru's look down on the evo, one of my boss' drives an aston martin and he knows the evo is badass... I made it a point to take him for a "ride" in the snow one day
