I think it really all depends on what the purpose of the car is. No one can argue about the high whp numbers Supras put down especially here in Texas. I've seen one put down over 1200whp on a dyno and that's nothing to joke about. In the 1320, and removing the driver factor, both are pretty impressive. AWD does have its advantages over RWD as no one can argue that either. I also believe the Supra is a bit heavier if I'm not mistaken. I haven't seen a Skyline put down 1200whp on a dyno but I'm sure there are videos out there. Bottom line, I've always considered the Skyline R34 the grand-daddy of all Import cars.
I own an r34 gtr. I'd say in stock trim it's damn impressive. For a 3500# + car it handles superbly and has more up than the Japanese let on to. It's pretty intense to drive it and it certainly is a neck breaker in traffic.
I really like supras too but I think most people are stuck on the 2jz more than the car overall. So you can build the engine to 1600 hp. What can you do with that? It prolly wouldn't be a daily driver and you'd be hard pressed to get that power to the ground. It's more bragging rights I guess. I don't believe the supras look that good either but they are nice. I've driven a stock supra once. I'd take the r34 over it any day.

Now adding one thing to this discussion, the MK4 is the ONLY Supra that even counts as a Supra in my opinion. The earlier Supras....pre 93....can't even be included in a discussion with any Skyline. The Nissan was a MASSIVELY better car on all levels until 93.
