Skyline Vs Supra, which is King? (poll)
Another reason I think you don't see so many gutted track Supras running around is because they aren't a dime a dozen like Evo's. There were 3500 6 speeds TOTAL brought to the states. The cars still command top dollar and they are BIG money to modify. It just doesn't make as much sense as it does to mod an EVO.
And seriously. I still don't think that would stop somebody with the correct change, even if they have to build a original TT car to get the best results. There are several salvage title, high mileage beaters out there.
So basically, what I'm saying is, it doesn't make much sense to spend a $100,000+ on building a Supra when you are still going to lose to someone who spent $100,000+ on an Evo, regardless of the initial investment of buying the car.

Greg at GSC has had great success with their road racing Supra. The only thing that plagues a Supra is it's weight. Once lightened, they can be a serious threat on the track. Sure an EVO will have the advantage on a tight track, but on a long fast track with big sweepers, in similarly prepped cars, it would be goodnight. For street use and light track duty, it is MORE than capable when lightly modded.

Enough defending it though, I know I'm on EVOm and I also own an EVO and love it.
But I've also owned a Supra and I don't think it gets the credit it deserves in the handling department.

Having owned both, I can say the Supra handles very well.
It definetly does not feel as tight or nimble as an Evo but based on all tests of the car back when it came out; it can most certainly hold it's own.
Fact is most guys get the Supra looking to go for big HP.
Anyways, check this video out:

Not totally unbiased since the Ridox Supra was driven by it's owner, and the Evo had some apparent ABS problems, but the Supra did very well considering over 600HP.
Im a little late on this thread but i love the GTR. Hands down a better car all around. Fastest 1/4 mile is 7.7 i beleive and supra is 7.9.......so there go's the supra is better for drag statements. In the Tsukuba super lap battle the M-speed GTR is the 3rd fastest in that event ever running a 54.481sec lap. I haven't seen a supra competing in that event since early 2000's.(meaning they probably realized it wasn't able to compete with the GTR's,evo's,rx7's and silvia's.) Now in JGTC events the supra did do well but still took less titles than the GTR's.
JGTC also had tube chassis's and completely altered body's and aero. I really like both car's a lot but from a performance stand point, the GTR is better in every way. I personally like the looks of a GTR more than a Supra wich is also a beautiful car. Looks is all personal preferrence though. Anyone can look up both car's achievements and the GTR take a big percentage of the titles. Btw GTR's have seen 1500hp as well, but most likely on high reading dyno's.
Well i didn't try to sound biased but it's fact that the GTR has achieved more overall.

Gotta link, just curious. If it's the one I'm thinking of it has a Lenco or something silimar. A supra running the factory 6 speed trans putting up 7.80's @ 190mph is more impressive IMO. It's also the current Texas Mile record holder which no car has been able to beat. That includes the likes of 1500hp TT Gallardos, Ford GT's and Vipers. Just sayin.
lol This thread will never end! haha There is always going to be people in denial. I would be if everyone said the Supra was way better car. lol Anyway besides peak HP numbers, the GTR i a better choice on the performance side.
I would not use JGTC as proof to the dominance of either car in production form. All of them run RWD in that series and to my knowledge all of Toyotas Supras have been running either a racing version of the 3SGTE or Lexus V8s. Nissan runs either the Titan V8 or the old Q45 V8, not sure. Either way a GTR without AWD or a Supra without the 2JZ is something entirely different IMO.
