I am thinking of doing the same. Any updates on the Z? How is it after some miles?

It's good!!!! Love the car as much now as I did when I bought it the stance, the looks, the power, the amenities.

Still can't make up my mind on where to go as far as more mods go. I historically don't like nitrous never have doubt I ever will, but there is a catch and this is it.

Most LS7 tuners will tell you to stay under the 650whp range (pistons) which due to what ever reason is still more than enough to hit 140mph+ traps in a well driven car.

So, right now I'm at 480whp it's fast, if I add headers/cam/retune I get the nice lope that I like and if I keep the stock NPP exhaust it's not much louder than stock inside. That will get me about 570whp for 5.75K in the car after that point it gets expensive.

The clutches don't like much more than that, the stock RF tires don't like even that but will manage, the stock pistons don't like much more than that even though many have live with more many have not too, so for all respective purposes that's a good stopping point.

If I wanted more I could be like all of the others that just slap on a 100 shot and go run some 140mph traps if I felt ballzy and wanted to risk it. There are a few guys hitting 144-146mph traps and mid 9's like that. For any type of track app. N/A is better since that big 7.0L is crammed in there.

The flipside is I could go straight to the FI route and SC the car. You can pulley to 570-600whp and be done with it for a stocker or drop in pistons and push 650-750whp with a base SC kit, but you add 80lbs to the front end and lots of heat on a roadcourse for about 2.5K more and no lope or nice exhaust rumble.

I like the car alot and hope to keep it instead of sell it and "upgrade" like I've been doing. I would love to add a GTR in the mix 18-24 months from now though. Like I said in another thread it truly is a conversation piece young and old alike. You will be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't like the Z06 in the car world.

On a side note I still defend those EVO's like mad though they are great cars for what they are.

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying your car!

I read either on R&T or Motortrend that Z06 tends to be very difficult to maneuver at the limit compared to C6 Z51 or ZR1, do you have any input on this? I mean is it true? What is the reason for it? Can it be remedied in some way?

It sounds like your rear tires will start gorging on your wallet soon

Maybe so, but it's really not that bad traction is very good. You can floor it from a slow roll with traction control off and you'll get a little wiggle and that's it....who knows what a extra 90whp would do though.

I can't tell you because the car exceeds my capability. I went on a roadcourse once so far and didn't even come close to pushing the car and until you ride shotgun with someone who really can push a platform you don't know how much you suck and I did and know I suck!!! For me roadcourse would always be for fun not competition or trying to beat a time I'm more of a acceleration junkie. I was hitting 145mph on the straights and tires were howling in the turns, but nothing compared to a Z06 wih R6's and a instructor level driver can do.......those guys are unreal.

Yeah I hear ya, unless my house income starts exceeding $200k (err being single and way way below that amount doesn't help, lol) I wouldn't wanna thrash a $60+k car on a track, especially considering the car's ability and what can result from spinning out on those velocity. Thanks for your input.

I just heard that it was the case for Z06 but not for Z51 and ZR1, which I find it very strange. ZR1 has two suspension settings, and they say soft mode it is very similar to Z51, whereas hard setting it is to that of Z06, but they did not mention the same driving characteristic happening at this setting (whether by omission or because it did not happen I don't know). But from what they describe, it sounds like Z51 and ZR1 had very gradual breakaway, whereas Z06 was grip grip then out of control. It sounds like a tire problem, but doesn't Z06 share the tire with regular C6 only varying in width? And ZR1 using Sports Cup.
