You'll see one well below $2k in a few weeks, along with affordable DP's and FMIC

Can't yet. Plenty of shops who are doing single turbo conversions but none that have successfully done it and marketed the product. Even if the single turbo was available there is still the current fuel limitation with the direct injection system which requires an additional fueling system.

My best friend just got rid of his 335 for a IX, he's also one of those guys who wanted that raw feel with a 5speed gearbox. It really depends what your into and what you want/need. The evo can get a little old after a while and I can understand wanting a more refined luxury car. For me though I also like that raw feeling of being in control over the car and don't mind all the noises and smells from my 3'' catless exhaust lol thats the reason I love the evo!!

My daily is 2011 135i vert and I've gotten used to the plusher and comfy side. It attracts lot of looks from girls for sure! It's really a nice daily, handles decent w/ good amount of power. I went from VIII, IX and VIII to 135i.

But, I always missed the rawness of my evos ...so, I'm getting another VIII this month as weekend joy ride!!!! Muhahahaha...

You'll impress the opposite sex with the 335i, but don't expect much performance out of it. The 335i is great performance oriented daily driver, but doesn't even hold a candle to the performance of a properly modified Evo. The bimmer is also upgradable, but expect to pay 10 times as much for the the same modification you would perform to an Evo. If you can live without the advantages of AWD and cheap horsepower, I'd say go for it. I'd personally would LOVE to own both vehicles!

the real comparison is with an e9x m3, not the 335...

in terms of performance and comfort that is.

let me start off by saying I do not own a 335, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. that being said, i will throw in my .02.

Before the evo, I came from the audi/vdub/bmw car scene. there are definitely pros and cons to each car, much of which have been covered in here already.

switching to the evo was an easy choice because i wanted more of a raw performing car. That being said, I opted for the SSL because I wanted a hint of luxury (if you can call it that) with HIDs, leather seats, and a sunroof. Love the evo, never looked back nor would I trade it.

that being said, the 335 is a great performing car. I have had the pleasure of riding and driving some, both stock and modded. Extremely comfortable, nice looking, rides great. Tranny shifts like butter, and with a few mods (exhaust, IC, chip) you get gobs of torque down low with decent power up top. modding/regular maintenance is much more expensive in power to money ratio. however, with a full warranty, BMW will take care of you in all your needs, something mitsu will NOT do.

if your looking for a luxury car, with great looks, style interior, and decent performance, the 335 is a perfect car. It will never compare to the evo in the performance department, but it sounds like you are ready to move on in which case you will not miss the rattles etc of the evo.

ultimately the decision is up to you. go test drive one and see. It would be wise not to mod it for warranty sake, but without mods its a slouch compared to the evo. gl with you decision, I am sure you will be happy either way.
