I drive a 99 Silver Civic DX sedan as my daily driver. 5-speed and great on gas. I can get close to 300+ miles on a full tank of gas

yeah i love my evo driving daily....but work is in another county than i live in, school is far away from my house, and work sends me on offsite trips(some far, and some close) and all these miles and gas usage adds up..my evo is racking up the miles fast it seems like...i bought my evo new a week after my uncle bought his used STi with 2,000miles, and Im now past him in mileage.

As a daily driver...I can't think of to many cars better than a Golf TDI. Four doors, plenty of room, great mileage and a relatively low cost.

For older cars, go the Japanese route.

If you just need a basic ride, go with a Toyota Corolla, Paseo, or Tercel. Some might suggest a Honda Civic.

You can also get a much newer Mirage for the same price.

If you need something with more peformance, try to find a nice Integra GS-R, or Ford Probe GT (V6), or a Mazda MX-6 V6.

I almost forgot to list Mazda MX-3 GS. This lil b*tch has the smallest V6 in the world at 1.8L. Good for 130 hp and 115-lb-ft.

Be sure to get the GT. Stick. Good cheap fun.
An old 200sx SE-R or any older SE-R would be alright. Maybe an excort ZX2? You could get one really cheap. Geo Metro.
