yes a honda is better drag car when modded right...its lighter..in much the same way an evo is lighter than a gtr...miata have an incredible scca history...really light and do well in class...both great cars with alot of potential in certain areas of motorsports...in some areas more than evos or gtrs...not debating that...but you said gtr is boss...lol...facts in the evo vs gtr debate are solid...open to any performance data or numbers that might show otherwise? untill then i will let number do the debating...

Yes, under the majority of applications, for the majority of people, the GTR is boss, assuming they can afford a GTR.

majority of people that do race participate in scca events...it has the cheapest cost of entry...1200+people descend on lincoln nebraska for each year...making it the largest race for a numbers prospective...this is a quote from GTR-LIFE... these quotes are from gtb/zr1...My car has gone through some fairly invasive weight reduction (SP-legal, even though I ran it in SM), and it weighed 3649--on absolute fumes. Upper 3500s may be possible, but will be costly to accomplish properly.
This compares to my 3042 lb Evo IX, which I've not concentrated weight-reduction on. Any way it's sliced, it will still be 400-600 lbs heavier (and quite a bit larger) than the Rally cars...The aspirations are over--and I'm moving on.... unfortunately is just to big & heavy for Solo @ the top level...The car's achillies heel is big, long sweepers--where it's power can't be used, and it's weight disadvantage amplified...I don't believe if Jesus himself were driving a GT-R @ Nats, he would have stood a chance... The cars are just too big & heavy ultimately to compete...Realistically, we'd still need another 3-500 lbs...he placed 11th at nationals...the highest place gtr was 4th for gtr...evo 3rd place...evos have won this class before...gtb/zr1 is one of only 2 gtrs to compete nationally...and the opinion of somebody who has owned and raced both at a competitive level...thought i would share...since majority of people that do compete, do so in this venue...

He's saying Gtrs aren't well suited for scca. Imo like miatas aren't good at the standing mile. Its like cutting a steak with a butter knife, use the right tool for the job.

SCCA is an organization, not an event type.

I cook my steaks good enough where I actually use a butter knife (I don't own a steak knife)

You seem to be going through a lot of trouble justifying why Evos are better. Most of us that have been on this board for a while all know what an Evo can accomplish given some time and effort. But who really gives a $h!t? The GT-R is a rock star car super car while the Evo 8/9 is race car disguised as an econobox.

I hope to own another CT9A Evo down the road or possibly build an Evolander.

I picked up the GT-R last night and I love it!

the GTR is an amazing machine, we all know that. I just wish the car took more skill to drive in a straight line. The paddle box shifter is so easy and makes any driver a pro. Its funny watching videos of GTRs vs. stick shift cars that are equally powerful and the GTR pulls about 1/4 car each shift and does so consistently

inorite? It's too bad they haven't thought of putting a paddle-shifter style tranny in an evo before, it would totally kill the GTR. Oh wait...

congrats on your pick up Evo8gr...they are great cars...the transmission is a amazing piece of technology...its a real testement to our evos performing so well as it holds all the records despite it having manual (weight lol)...having said that i find a manual is more fun and engaging (especially on track)...but that is personal preference...the gtr is also more comfortable and luxuary...asthetics are toss up...its all in what you prefer (I like how evo looks)...most will prefer gtr...having said that it would dissapear with my lotus parked next to it...but if it makes you happy you really cant go wrong with either car...its all in what its intended use is...is it track,daily,both...do you like rowdy,luxury,....manual,paddles...asthetics ?...might be better served with a exotic looking car...as long as you smile driving it...its the right car...I like rowdy, manual cars hence the lotus...you may not...ive owned or tracked alot of performance cars...but i have yet to find one i thought was better all around or more fun...hence why i have owned 4...kept looking for something better and never found it...I hope you get as much enjoyment from it as i have from the evos...
