I'm horrible, want a GT-R
I had one of the first EVO's off the boat - wrecked it at VIR, and had it repaired to track it again.
I had an EVO 8 MR, and loved it.
I traded both for my EVO 9 MR, and thought that would be the car I'd keep forever.
Bought a used 2009 GT-R in 2009 with 1400 miles. NOTHING I've ever driven is as fast. NOTHING pulls so much from what it has under the hood. NONE of my EVO's can even hold a candle to the GT-R. The engine produces smooth and silly levels of horsepower. The suspension defys logic and makes an elephant dance on the head of a pin. The interior of the GT-R is on a different level than any Mitsubishi I've ever owned or known.
I was like Jeremy Clarkson - there's no way this car can be worth more than twice an EVO. But really, it is.
To each his own. If you want to stick to a traditional manual, so be it. If you want a willfully flimsy interior that's your perrogative.
Me, I'll take my track weapon that absolutely MURDERS cars costing $30,000+ more, which only EVO's with extensive track capable work can hang with in the curves. AND, I drive to and from the track with the same tires I run during the event and passing trailer queens left and right. That's my choice.
If you don't agree, that's okay. I'm not butthurt. Enjoy what you have and let it be.

I have owned a 2004 EVO VIII and I cannot believe some of the things that I am reading. Manual vs Auto, EVO vs GT-R...
The GT-R is a Super car. It is leagues above many of the super cars mentioned earlier in this post, if not in stock trim with a few mods. It does handle better than anything out their. It can make stupid copious amounts of HP and put it down easily.
What is the argument?
I love the EVO but in no way would I ever try and down play what the GT-R has managed to accomplish...
Come on guys REALLY!!! What is happening to the EVO community? Some of you guys are embarrassing yourselves and don't even know it.
I feel that some of this may just be sticker envy... Just my .02 cents.

Here's what I don't get: From my humble automotive perspective, I can easily see how someone would prefer to drive, say, a (non-automatic) MC Miata over a X MR. Hell, I'd prefer the Miata, myself. Some folks really don't want to drive a car with an automatic transmission. They don't care what name is on the car, what other cars have automatic transmissions, or the bragging rights on the forums. Somehow this concept cannot be understood. An interesting event in itself.
It's a bit after 5AM right now. The sun should be out in about an hour. My IX is warming up, and I'm about to pour myself a cup of coffee and set out for a drive. I don't want to do this in an automatic anything, GTR or otherwise, nor do I want to do this cocooned in 2 tons of metal. Time to go ....

I've owned exotics and the gtr is defiantly considered an exotic and a supercar. So from your thought process it's a Nissan. Well a Ferrari is a fiat, Bugatti and lambo and Porsche are Volkswagens. So there is no way there exotics then. A gallardo has the same exact nav system and brakes , rotors and stearing wheel and carbon fiber as a Audi rs4. So I guess because of that is not exotic. Thank you for showing me you have no idea what you are typing about.
Your once again stating your opinion which there is nothing wrong with ''I've owned exotics and the gtr is defiantly considered an exotic and a supercar'' That means you consider it an exotic. IT ISNT. Take the footlong black ***** out your butt that you superglued to your inferior to ferrari fake leather seat.
From here on out i will walk around claiming my Evo is an exotic sports car because its faster than most exotic sports cars. And i will be oblivious to the fact that the interior feels like it came out of a regular lancer. Just like a GTRs looks like they hired the dork that was canned for creating the KIA soul.
Go to 6 speed online and claim that you own an exotic.
Its an import, Its a nissan, Not an exotic. VERY simple fact. If you have really owned all those other cars you know the fit and finish of the nissan is pathetic in comparison.

The seats in the gtr are made by recaro. And your car stock is not faster than most exotics either. Like I said you modified your car to keep up with my car in stock form. I'd put money on if we went to the drags trip and ran 10 passes I'd win the majority of them. If we went to a track I bet I'd beat you with no experience. Why , because it's a supercar. I know your mad because you resorted to telling me to do stuff to myself. I laugh at that! Haha! Maybe your screen name explains your auto ignorance, cause you can't drive that good. And have you looked at a gtr besides in magazines? Probably not cause Nissan doesn't let people test drive them. Dry carbon interior, recaro's.
Have your ever drove and saw the inside of a maclaren mp4c12, a gt3rs, or gt2rs, or a f40 , scuderra, lotus, all exotis and set up for race and interior is far from luxurious. Some don't even come with a radio, no nav system. They are purpose built cars to compete in racing. So from your ignorant thinking they can't be exotics because the dork that got fired from Kia didn't even show up for work in these cars cases and they just left the interiors blank and raw. Like I said know what you are talking about before you argue! Something else, gtr is hand made and shares no parts with any other Nissan except for the Nissan badge itself. When you get in your car look at your dash, looks the same as a lancer doesn't it? Your glass in your windows the same. Why , cause the evo was purpose built to compete not be luxurious.
Finally test drove a GT-R. I've owned 5 Evos of varying levels of power (314whp - 385whp) and 1 592whp STI (when it worked right) and they all suck in comparison to the GT-R. It is, so far, the best car I've ever driven. Only bad is the tranny makes some noises and it's not as quiet as an Evo X, but probably a tad better off then a CT9A. Suspension is hard, slightly better then an 03 Evo 8, but an Evo 9 or 10 is softer stock. I tried all the settings on the GT-R just to check... the softest setting is neutral feeling. I'm still searching for the perfect one. If you can afford it, it's worth the jump. For all the experimentation I've done on Evos over the years to get the right combo of daily driver with track performance, Nissan murdered it with the GT-R.
There is no way something the size of a GTR could be mistaken for a sentra. However i've seen countless chicks ask if 911 turbo owners have a boxster.
Stock for stock what makes the GTR better than the gallardo 570?
New 2013gtr stock 10.8 quarter mile. And I hope the turbo s pdk is faster! Ways 3-400lbs less and had more power and cost more than twice as much. But then porsche pays allot for advertising also!
actually the gtr is more exotic looking than a p car by far. People trade there gallardos in for gtr's and p cars. I had plenty of exotics and fast cars and the gtr hands down out performs all of them around the board. Check my YouTube channel and you will see my cars, from lambo's , Porsches , bentlys, amg's, bmw's, sls, Ferrari's. Don't be a bench racer going off Internet advertisements.

whats the point of being on this forum if you no longer have an evo lol?
i love the GTR, and it is a supercar would i take it over a zr1? most would however i wouldnt...
gtr is an amazing vehicle.. evos as much as i love them dont compare , its not even a fair comparison clearly one costs 100k+ the other under 40k...

Mine beat a gtr at local track about a second a lap...ive got 480 whp gtr had 500...both on stock block/tranny...both had coilovers...ive got less than 30 $ in my car...hes got 75 $...I am 900 lbs lighter...hard to overcome in braking and cornering...I drove his car...we both agreed mine pulled harder...n driver played a part in win...but at end of day I know he had a lot of fun..but 40 $ more fun...lol...sorry I like manual more...also like my cars loud, rowdy and racecar...but if you prefer a cozy drive home the choice is obvious...

I personally dont give two ****s if anyone wants to buy a gtr, owns a gtr, or is thinking of trading their evo for a gtr. It has nothing to do with hating, or being jealous. Its the fact that its a pointless thread about another car on the evo community forum. The questions are always stupid. Should i buy a gtr? Umm, i dont know, do you want one? Its a question the owner should be able to answer themselves. You can always go to the GTR/Nissan forums and ask the people that drive them all the time.
And manual will always be the biggest fun factor for me. Auto just puts me to sleep.
