I'm sure you left off a couple hundred things What a laundry list!

Looks like the SilverBullet route for you - When will your car catch fire?

G35? I upgraded from an S4 to get an EVO!

Have a great day with that S4 - ooh, I mean RS4 wanna-be.

No wonder Todd is so rich ($$$$$) Keep pissing your money away.

Guys STFU you cannot compair these two cars.

The Audi has Higher build quality, the interior plastics are better, the motor certainly would have better tunability ifn't wasn't such a HARD and expensive nut to crack. IT IS Heavier, yeah so is an M5, right now my car would KICK THE CRAP out of an M5, but I would ratehr have an M5.

Don't forget the Metal and paint on the cars are ALOT better then anything mitsu, I mean this is why these cars are expensive, they have WAY better build quality and fit and finish.

The EVo has a SOLID frame, very solid
Crap Body
Crap interior minus aftermarket seats
crap bendy plastic
just great drive train and suspension components
Now take an Evo, add a leather interior (Good leather, not Mitsu leather) add better sound deadening material, add better fit and finish interior, Navigation, and all that good stuff, you would have an S4

I LOVE S4's, they are so capable, 4wd, TT, AWD. DOn't foget we got SHAFTED with the TT modle at only 240HP, the Euro modles come with 380HP, some in station wagon forum, immagine haveing a Station Wagon that can rip a 0-60 in 4.5 seconds, that would **** off alot of people. It is a more solid car at higher speeds due to its weight and Taller gearing. It is a great car,

The Evo is light, just as powerful, and way more agressive, it is also lacking in the build quality, and their is your $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ difference, that is it.

If control is an issue than get an EVO.

In june motortrend http://www.motortrend.com
The evo Had a better slalom time than EVERY car except the Mosler mt900 which is 2000 lbs and 400 HP.

Not bad for a car thats 3260 LBS with 271 HP.

It proves that a good drivetrain helps a lot.

How does one measure build quality?

Simple, go sit in a Lancer, then go sit in an Audi, you'll see....

I have. The plastics feel like the same plastics in both. I guess that's why my friends with TTs and RS4s (or MBs or any other high dollar ride ) get miffed becuase I don't see much difference inside there cars than any others.... Is my *** somehow a calibrated build quality measurement device and no one told me?

I certainly see where the cost gets better service and maintenance included and some nice little do dads here and there, but this build quality thing is kinda lame IMO. Lexus started spouting off about build tolerances and pictured the ball bearings running all around their cars to show how precise their car are built and nowadays most (not all) cars have very good panel fitment inside and out.. But beyond measuring gaps, what else is there?

European car costs are also highly due to higher wages and benefits for their employees than anywhere else, especially compared to the low safety requirements for asian manufacturers. The higher european cost is mostly due to proper worker treatment, not anything special in the manufacturing, and asian manufacturers get away with near slave labor keeping their production costs down..

Forgive my ignorance, but a lot of people here are saying that a stock EVO is faster than a stock S4. Which S4 are we talking about? Are we talking about the B5 twin-turbo setup or the B6 4.2L V8?
The B5 setup is rated lower in hp than the EVO and weighs a bit more. I can see how the EVO is faster...but what about the B6? Does the weight make it slower even though its putting out 340bhp?

Could just over 100 lbs shaved off the standard Evo model really equal a .6 decrease in 0-60 times???

MotorTrend pulled a 4.4 0-60 time out of the Evo RS, vs. a 5.0 time on the standard model Evo. That seems like a huge difference to me. Granted there may have been different track conditions, etc. but that sounds aggressive. Maybe the new limited slip front end helps launch times??

THis thread is a bit dated, but I saw the original post....didn't read much else. What kind of S4 puts out 325 hp with just a chip?
