These codes pop up consistently, along with others. The car always has a CEL. He's not a car guy, so tows it to Ford on a regular basis.
The car lost power at one time. Reported to be a bad coil and plug.
It smokes/has vapor while idling that "smells bad" (his description) at idle.
It's always down. I feel for the guy.

If it were me, after breakin I would push the car hard and check coolant levels religiously. If its going to fail, sooner is better than later. Would suck to have it let go after your warranty expires.

My buddy got his RS back a couple days after the head gasket was replaced. Time will tell how long it lasts this time. I have to figure sooner or later, the bugs gotta get worked out. Or I hope.

On a semi-related note: my friend with the Mustang is still waiting to see if Ford settles or they are going to court for his transmission woes.

I had so many high hopes for the Mustang and RS. I'm seriously bummed and disappointed in Ford.

I wonder if any aftermarket engine builders have 'solved' the issues.

Supposedly, Ford has and they are retrofitting all the older cars with the fix, whatever that may be.

Is there a TSB? I can't find one. If there is not, I suspect that is just a rumor.

There is currently no TSB. They are fixing the ones which have issues are they are reported.

Seems to be a cluster or them with mid-2016 build dates which are having the majority of the head gasket issue. Time will tell if it creeps up to the rest or not.

Hopefully Ford will step up and tell the root cause but it is unlikely. Personally I am waiting for a Ford approved tune or for the warranty to run out and enjoy the car under warranty till then.

From pictures I've seen, the block breaks around an area where a head bolt is inserted. The solution - replace block.

So the 'solution' is to replace broken parts if/when they fail? That is called a warranty, and is no fix at all

They had one, but before Leon could do it, the tunes were halted. Nothing has been rolled out to replace it, at this time.

It is if the parts are improved, which is the rumor.

So it appears there have been at least 3 revisions to the RS' head gasket. But owners cannot go in and request the new head gasket under warranty unless they have visible symptoms. People think RS' with a build date after Feb '17 have the revised block casting and the latest head gasket. Time will tell if these later built cars will also have issues.
