Focus RS
Wider tires on both.
My love affair with the RS is very much over. Head gasket failures, many overpriced and over-optioned units wasting away 5 mo+ on most Ford dealer lots, and their stubborn refusal to reduce price have killed this car.
Still considering a Golf R, just waiting to see if the right deal can happen. Obviously it's not a handling car compared to the Evo or RS.

This is the only point that I was trying to make. I wasn't ridiculing or dismissing your experience. Your information is interesting. However, this is a car forum, and that, unfortunately, means that some are prone to take data/talking points as the gospel.

what is makes te story even better, as a story goes, this guy did run his RS full season so far, this year at high level. Then he gets in an Evo ,same event same day etc, which he never drove, and run faster time vs his own car.
That is more a bigger story than some will give credit for it, for the Evo.

Could contact a localish dealer about ordering you a base 2018 as soon as they pop into their system. Get one of the 1st ones off the boat that way. Ask them not to remove the shipping plastic, no wash, no prep, no detail, no front plate (you don't want random Joe washing your new car), then take it straight away to get a proper wash and Xpel ultimate clear bra.
