2015 Kia ranked #2 in initial quality, J.D. Power
2016 Kia ranked #1 in initial quality, J.D. Power, beating #2 Porsche.
also in the top 10 in 2017 so far, initial quality:

And long term quality, still very high up the list, and up from 2016:

I find it ironic that the same people on this forum that say Audi and VW are good quality state Kia/Hyundai are not, even though they rank higher than them.
2016 JD:

If you want to keep living in 1999, that's cool...

One thing is for sure, Japanese suck at making cars now...

It don't have much to do with quality for me, it's the name. You know how some people have ruthless brand loyalty, like they'll buy a mustand and all of their cars become fords. They'll get their wife the Ford minivan even though the other minivans are about 17 times better... well I have the reverse of that for Korean cars. Maybe my kind will be changed like 20 years in the future, but as of right now a Korean car just won't happen for me
Koreans make some awesome movies though, check them out on Netflix.

We had a Kia minivan. It was like sitting in a spare bedroom; fantastic for long drives. The utility goes without saying. We bought it used with 30K on its clock and had it for 7 years. I'd buy another.
Yea I DD a Hyundai Veloster Turbo, bought one in 2014 the 2nd MY, the 2013's popped engines left and right, much to do with LSPI, horrible factory mapping and weak internals, 2014 fixed 99% of the issues, that car was totaled in a total loss accident. Once insurance paid out I bought the same car in a 2015 model
In hindsight I would have bought the Fiesta ST just for the ECU tuning availability, However the Hyundai has a bunch more std features.
Love the car, love the drive, needs tuning. The Bosch ECU in it is apparently a bear to crack people say they have OBD II Flashing cracked but we have yet to see a product on the market. One can opt to send their ECU or buy a spare ECU that can get opened up and bench flashed with a can tune or even dyno tuned removing the ECU from the vehicle multiple times
Most of the ECU stuff is hush hush between the different co's that offer tuning services tho. So no way to ever know what was done by said tuner really.
And the DCT is junk as shared by multiple forum owners. I always opt for a manual when available in any vehicle so...

I had a 2016 Hyundai rental car with 4k miles on it. I'm not sure wtf these people are smoking to say they are such great vehicles. Interior was a joke, car had a **** load of road noise, in general it was just a turd.
As for the mitsu owners complaining about other cars comment, I own my evo for the performance, not the interior, or the reliability, that's for sure.

Mitsubishi owners calling Kia and Hyundai junk cars.
