Focus RS
If it is reall going to be an AWD 350hp hatch, I am very eager to see it. But till I see it in the show room, and drive one, I'll keep dreaming of a newer car that'll at least be a funish DD. Till then the evo 8 will be the ticket.
Base 4 door Golf R with DSG: $36,595 MSRP
4 door Golf R with DSG, DCC, Nav: $39,090 MSRP
Manual option will come next year
No sunroof option this time.
Smart people will wait to be able to get it at invoice or below. When I bought my brand new 2013 Golf R, 4 door, fully loaded with sunroof and nav, it's MSRP was $37,545 and I was able to pick it up for $33,788 before taxes, etc
Holy crap! thats a lot- thats about how much Evo X SE cost right?
What made the Evo 8 so great, aside from the performance;was its starting price.
If I recall it was $27k-28k for RS
$30k for Base/SSL
and when the MR an SE came they peaked 36K.
as already stated by others, in order for this Focus RS AWD to be under $35k it would need to be under 300hp. Ideal target would be to start at $29k-30k.
Right, I never thought of it like that

P.S. Gas cost an average of $1.56 per gallon in 2003.
A comparable Evo 10 MR that basically match the two feature packages the MK7 Golf R is coming in:
Base MR with Premium and Touring Packages: $43,055 MSRP
Base MR with above packages plus navigation: $45,430 MSRP
Welcome to 2014 (almost 2015)
Not going to happen with the Focus RS. The base Focus ST is currently $25,195 MSRP. Fully loaded it's $31,265 MSRP

I had the same reaction. Stared blankly at it for about a minute.
If the Focus RS can fall into this pricing range ($35-36k base, < $40k loaded) I think it'll be a success. Especially if they bring that sweet *** lime green color.

VWoA just announced USDM MK7 Golf R pricing and you are pretty much right.

Sorry to say, if Ford expects to sell a 40k car they better step it up imo. They haven't proven that the drivetrain or engine are reliable yet. I'd love to get one after they have been proven. Maybe lease one??? lol
As far as drivetrain and engine, that info hasn't even been released. If I had to guess, it will have a version of the 2.3 4cyl EcoBoost from the Mustang and the FWD setup from the Focus ST.
The EcoBoost engines have been proven over the years. They are pretty solid. The ECU programming is also very sophisticated.
Yeah, the Focus ST is a $30k car and adding AWD and more motor (plus some various go-fast bits) wouldn't (shouldn't?) be that hard.
If the RS is FWD @ $40k, it's DOA though...
