Yeah, most of the ecoboosts are done by 5000 RPM (many due to fuel not even the turbos), but
that is not really a bad thing if you have enough gears. Lot of the new autos coming with 8 speeds or more.
Not sure what they are using for tuning though..........

The woman has a new escape 2.0 which is 3800 lbs and pulls pretty hard, not that far off idle.
Rated @ 180 ft-lbs @ 1400 and reaches 270 torque by 3 grand. Very 80's, V-8 like in normal driving.

My chick has the same car, AWD with 2.0 ecoboost. great 0-70ish. Out of breath for passing on the freeway. Its the tiny K03 turbo. Just not enough air...

However, to get the anticipated 300+hp, the RS will need at least a K04 turbo, which while still small, is much better than the K03.

You have it the wrong way around. It's the small turbos. Since the HPFP is cam driven it has more fuel capacity the higher the engine spins so the HPFP always run out of fuel at lower rpm before higher rpm.

A good example is my ecoboost. Torque-tastic for a 1.6L but falls off hard up top because of the dinky turbo. It's smaller than a T25. On E40, I'm almost out of fuel down low but I have fuel for days up top.

At this point, if it is FWD, there is going to be some serious internet outcry.

Not sure if keeping it a secret is a good idea or not. On one hand it creates hype, obviously. The other hand if it ends up being FWD, interneters are going to feel cheated and owed something while playing the victim card and then compare the Focus RS to every. single. other. car that is better in their universe.

"Dude I would totally get _______ over that stupid FWD thing, what the hell is wrong with Ford, they said it would be AWD, this is B.S."

Totally forgetting that Ford never said what it would be.

I don't get why anyone would buy something FWD at even 300 HP, let alone substantially more. Even RWD @ 400 HP is almost useless without drag radials or
a 335 wide tire.

Uh huh. Tell that to all the 400+ HP RWD cars out there. I guess a stock Corvette is almost useless.

we've had various road/drag cars that were FWD and had anywhere from 300whp-600whp. they were a TON of fun. it's also a relatively safe feeling to have the front wheels brake loose while flooring it down the freeway than it is in a RWD car.
we had fun with the drag cars because it was a serious challenge to modulate the throttle and get a decent time. that was half the fun.

Talking about hooking up, and yes the vette has a 285 stock and still needs traction control.

Could be fun once in a while, but I already own several other challenging vehicles. IF I replaced the EVO, it would only be something very close in a point and shoot car, but would also have to be more comfortable on the highway. The only thing I've never liked about the EVO was that the RPM's are screaming on the highway.

That's substantially different than useless.

also good to remember, equal HP numbers usually do VERY different performance numbers from different manufacturers.

many many examples for that. But the bright side is, ford usually can back up they hp numbers on track.

Mustang's 310hp 2.3 EB has only a 3.55 final drive when the Evo has a 4.69 final drive. Gearing also is different.
